If you're a fan of roguelikes, today is a pretty good day. Earlier in the morning The Binding of Isaac devs have released a few more tidbits of information about the massive Repentance expansion, while the classic roguelike Spelunky has just received an impressive new sequel!

As you might expect from a sequel, Spelunky 2 has taken all of the elements from the original, and then both improved and expanded upon them in a variety of ways. This means you'll see more numerous and elaborate levels, a whole assortment of new traps and enemies, new characters and items to toy around with, more branching paths and interactions, and perhaps most importantly of all, online multiplayer!

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this madness looks like in action through two of the recent trailers. The first is the brief launch trailer that is fairly light on details, while the second video is a more in-depth overview of what Spelunky 2 is really all about. Have a little peek:

When it comes to its quality, Spelunky 2 is so far averaging a 90% approval rating on Steam. So if you're a fan of the original, chances are you'll like the sequel as well. And if you're approaching it completely blind, just bear in mind that both Spelunky and its sequel are rather challenging games that will require a bit of a time investment to properly manage. In other words, don't get too discouraged if you end up kicking the bucket over and over again within the first few areas!
