If you're a fan of RPGs that don't treat your character like they're the only competent individual in the entire world, you might want to check out the newly released Outward. In the most basic terms, it's a survival-focused RPG that will have you brave harsh environments, as well as fight off bandits and monsters as you roam across the land, all the while ensuring you don't starve or get sick along the way. Oh, and if you ever end up feeling like you need someone to help you carry your giant piles of loot, there is also a co-op mode!

You can get a bit of a sneak peek at what all of this looks like in-game through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a gander, it's a fairly short one:

I've only played Outward for a couple of hours at this point, so I can't exactly give you a comprehensive review, but what I can say is that it's certainly an interesting game. In fact, Outward reminds me of the Gothic series in many ways. It tries to include an incredible amount of different systems and ideas at a fairly limited budget, with the end result being a somewhat janky, yet still rather enjoyable experience.

So if you're interested in the idea behind Outward, I would heartily recommend doing a bit more research about it. Outward isn't one of those games that will appeal to everyone, but if you can get past some of its problems, I think there is enough intriguing elements present to make it worth a playthrough.

Whatever your opinions may be, you can read more about Outward over at Steam. Have fun!
