[Update]: The Medium has now been unleashed onto PC and Xbox!

It's quite astonishing to see how much of an influence Cyberpunk 2077 has. CDPR recently pushed its release date back to December 10th, which then quickly resulted in a cascade of other delays as nobody wanted to release under Cyberpunk 2077's enormous shadow.

First it was Path of Exile's next big update, then the Early Access release of Everspace 2, and now even the psychological horror game The Medium is stepping back. So instead of launching on December 10th as previously announced, The Medium will be now landing onto PC and Xbox on January 28, 2021.

"It wasn't an easy choice to make, but one made due to the Covid-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market," reads the brief update. "Bloober Team remains committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing experience to date."

"The additional development time will allow us to add further polish, ensuring we deliver our innovative, genre-pushing vision of interactive psychological horror. Rest assured, the delay will not stop us sharing information with you, and you can expect us to unravel a few more layers of The Medium's great mystery soon."

While the whole situation is bordering on the absurd at this point, I am still quite happy to see delays like this. The extra time should help the developers get everything nice and polished up, so even though all of the waiting is admittedly getting a bit tiring, it'll hopefully all be worth it in the end and we'll all be better off because of it.
