Much like its predecessor, This is the Police 2 is a bit of a strange mixture of strategy, narrative-driven choices, management and turn-based combat. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will have to carefully manage your cops, make tough decisions throughout your various investigations, and when things go truly haywire, fight baddies with an XCOM-styled turn-based combat system.

I haven't played it myself so take the following with a few grains of salt, but from what I've seen online it appears that This is the Police 2 has a bit of a problem with difficulty. Since each of your police officers acts like their own person, with their individual needs and vices, things can quickly spiral out of control and leave you in a situation with very few ways out. So if these types of issues sound like a deal-breaker to you, I'd advise waiting for a couple of weeks as the developers will most likely patch the most egregious ones in the near future.
