Hades 2 official artwork and logo showing off Melinoe from the indie action-roguelike

[Update]: It took a while, but I have some good news! Hades 2 will be heading into Early Access in Q2, 2024!

If you're a fan of Hades' combination of roguelite action and character-driven storytelling, you'll be pleased to hear that Supergiant Games are now working on a bigger and bolder sequel. The main character this time around will be Melinoë, the immortal Princess of the Underworld, and in stark contrast to her brother Zagreus she'll be working her way down into the depths of the Underworld in order to square off against Chronos, the Titan of Time.

As for the actual gameplay, Hades II is once again going to be all about experimenting with different boons and builds as you smash your way through a variety of tricky encounters and bosses. Naturally, there will also be a bunch of new locations to explore, new upgrade systems to mess around with, an assortment of new challenges to overcome, as well as a couple of still unannounced surprises.

What all of this looks like in action, as well as what the story might be about, that you can check out through the announcement trailer below. Have a gander, it's quite a stylish one:

Much like its predecessor, Hades II will be launching into Early Access and slowly expanding itself over time based on community feedback. No exact release date has been given just  yet, but you can expect to see the Early Access version of Hades II to arrive at some point in 2023 for PC via both Steam and Epic Games Store. The full release will also be available on consoles, though the exact platforms have not been announced yet.

You can learn more about Hades II, as well as keep an eye on any developer updates and teasers, over at the official website. Enjoy!
