Roadwarden indie text-based pixel art RPG official key art

If you're up for an oldschool RPG, and you aren't afraid of reading through copious amounts of text, you might want to check out the freshly released Roadwarden. To put it simply, it's primarily a text-based RPG with some stylish pixel art illustrations that will task you with exploring a massive fantasy world full of mysteries to uncover, catastrophes to thwart and characters to annoy with endless questions.

Along the way you'll need to make hard choices that will greatly influence the course of the game, antagonize or befriend the many creatures and people that will cross your path, as well as customize and take care of every aspect of your own character - even stuff that is usually assumed like keeping yourself nice and clean. After all, if you appear in the middle of a village smelling like you've just taken a swim through a rancid sewer, the townsfolk might not be all that eager to let you in their homes!

While it doesn't show any gameplay, the launch trailer should still give you a decent impression of the sort of style and atmosphere Roadwarden is going for. Have a gander:

If you're still not sure where exactly you stand with Roadwarden, worry not as there is a free demo available. Even a few minutes with it should be more than enough to help you figure out if you're Roadwarden's type of audience or not.

You can check out the demo, as well as learn more about Roadwarden in general, over at Steam. Have fun!
