One of Riverbond's boss fights

Riverbond is a newly announced singleplayer action-adventure set in a rather charming and fairly destructible voxel world. The focus, as you might imagine, is placed squarely on the exploration, storytelling, and naturally, the occasional bouts of combat.

Rather than simply ramble on about what exactly Riverbond is, allow me to share with you the announcement trailer. It should give you a fairly good idea of what sort of a game Riverbond really is, and more importantly, how peculiar all of it looks. Here's the video:

If you're interested in learning more about Riverbond I'm afraid you're out of luck as the following paragraph is quite literally all I could find by scouring the official website:

"Riverbond has players embark on a journey down an enchanted river to explore an ever-shifting landscape, uncover the truth of a collapsing world, and rebuild the passage that once served as the path between life, death and the great beyond. During their journey players will partake in a brisk single-player campaign filled with exploration, quests, intense melee combat, special abilities and a heroic narrative."

On the positive side, Riverbond will be playable and on display during this year's PAX West (from September 2-5), so if you want to give it a try for yourself or just figure out what in the world its all about, you thankfully won't have to wait for too long.

As for the release date, Riverbond will be arriving for the PC and consoles at some point in 2017, though given its PAX presence this year I'd imagine we're talking about an "early" 2017 launch. And finally, since I can't offer you any more concrete information, here are some pretty pictures instead:
