Artwork and logo for the engineering sandbox game about building robots - Plasma

If the idea of building and tinkering with more and more elaborate robots sounds like a pleasant way to spend an evening, you might want to keep an eye on the upcoming Plasma. It's an engineering sandbox game that's all about carefully constructing machines out of a variety of customizable parts, and then using very basic 'programming' tools to control their behavior in order to do silly things.

What this looks like in actual gameplay, as well as what kind of robot you'll even be able to create, that you can find out through the freshly posted reveal trailer. Have a gander:

While I'm a big fan of the concept, I do hope that Plasma will bring with it enough actual challenges to mess around with instead of simply relying on players making their own fun like many similar sandboxes. Don't get me wrong, the latter can still be entertaining, but there's only so many times you can smash robots together before the whole thing starts to feel a bit mundane.

Whatever the case may be, we'll find out fairly soon as Plasma will be launching into Steam Early Access in early 2023. The very first version will bring with it all of the core gameplay systems along with Steam Workshop integration, while future updates will add more worlds to explore, more components to experiment with, and if everything goes right, maybe even real-time multiplayer.

You can learn more about Plasma, as well as its plans for the future, over at Steam. Enjoy!
