If you were hoping to get your hands onto Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals later this year, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. According to the latest update, the Oxenfree 2 team has decided to postpone the big launch until 2023 in an effort to ensure the game arrives as finished and polished as possible.

“We owe it to our amazing community to make Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals the best game it can possibly be,” explains the brief announcement. “Seeing your fan art, reading your excited comments, and connecting with you fuels our ambition to make this our best game yet. To make Oxenfree 2 truly special and add more localizations, we're moving our release window to 2023.”

“Thanks you for your patience, support, and understanding. We can't wait to share the game with you. Stay tuned!”

Given that no exact release date has been announced just yet, it's highly likely that Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals won't be releasing within the first few months of 2023. Naturally, this is pure speculation and there is always a chance I could be wrong, but if it was truly launching in the first quarter of 2023 then Night School Studio would have probably given us a tentative date to latch onto.

Personally, I'm more than happy to wait as the original game was a surprisingly compelling experience for me. So if the sequel needs a few more months to reach (and hopefully even surpass) that kind of quality, then so be it. After all, it's much more fun to play a fully finished game than to try to extract some sort of enjoyment out of a broken mess!
