Numantia screenshot of a turn-based battle from up close

Numantia is a historical turn-based strategy game that depicts the real-life conflict between the Republic of Rome and the rebellious Celtiberians of Numantia during 154 BC. In gameplay terms this means you'll have access to two different campaigns, each of which brings their own heroes, troops, settlements, armies, and decisions to make.

You can get a good look at what all of this entails through one of the most recent trailers. The video unfortunately doesn't let any single scene play out for more than a couple of seconds, but its still well worth a glance if you're interested in historical strategy games. Have a look:

Numantia has arrived only recently and most of the reviews are currently not in English, so I'm afraid I can't really tell you whether its any good or not, but the concept itself does look quite interesting. Instead of having a massive, continent-spanning war, Numantia is mostly focused on a smaller conflict and the battles that erupted because of it. If done well, this could shed light on key figures long-forgotten by history, as well as showcase some of the more interesting battles most us have probably never even heard of. With that said, I would still recommend holding off on grabbing Numantia for at least a couple of days (if not weeks), just to make sure the positive reviews continue rolling in.

If you would like to learn more, though I'm afraid there really isn't much to find, you should head over to either Steam or the official website. And finally, let me send you off with a couple of images:
