Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord official artwork

While both the original game and Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord are a nice bit of fun all on their own, it's the absurd amount of quality mods that gives these games such an immense amount of replay value. As such, I'm very pleased to say that Bannerlord's latest and likely final pre-release update has now enabled Steam Workshop support!

If you're unfamiliar with the system, the Steam Workshop essentially gives you the ability to easily look up and download the mods that interest you, on top of making it simple for mod creators to upload and maintain their work. So even though modding has been a thing in Bannerlord for quite a while now, the addition of the Steam Workshop should make things a whole lot smoother for everyone involved.

For example, if TaleWorlds Entertainment plays their cards right and gives popular mod makers access to the launch version ahead of time, it's entirely possible for most of your mods to work perfectly on launch day instead of going through the usual breakdowns that happen with major updates. I certainly hope that's going to be the case, as otherwise the poor mod makers are going to get absolutely swarmed by untold numbers of players endlessly yelling "mod doesn't work!!!" at them until they fix things.

Whatever the future might bring, I suppose we'll find out soon enough as Bannerlord will be launching from Steam Early Access on October 25th. Once it does I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, you can read a little bit more about Bannerlord's launch and post-launch plans over at Steam. Enjoy!
