Lone Fungus screenshot of the character jumping around

The upcoming Lone Fungus is a colorful Metroidvania action-adventure starring a surprisingly acrobatic mushroom on a mission to save the world. While the choice of protagonist is certainly a bit odd, the actual gameplay should be quite familiar as it's all about exploring a huge and interconnected world, unlocking new abilities and items that let you fight more effectively or venture into previously inaccessible areas, and naturally, beating up hordes of cutesy enemies along the way.

Since a Metroidvania game lives and dies by the quality of its gameplay, allow me to share with you one of the recent trailers. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Lone Fungus is all about. Have a peek:

If all of this looks like something you'd like to toy around with, you'll be happy to hear you won't have to wait all that long as Lone Fungus will be launching into Steam Early Access tomorrow, on March 28th. The initial version will bring with it eight unique areas to explore along with all of the core gameplay mechanics, while future updates will add things like new environments, enemies and extra polish.

You can learn more about Lone Fungus' Early Access plans, as well as check out some of the player reviews once it actually launches, over at Steam. Enjoy!
