EITR is a challenging isometric action-RPG with some stunning pixel artwork backing it up. It features a variety of different weapons with unique playstyles, enemies that require strategy and timing in order to beat, tons of randomized loot, as well as a highly punishing difficulty system that rewards the patient and spurns the hasty.

While the only gameplay trailer I could find is around two years old, it should still give you a pretty damn good idea of just what EITR is all about. Have a look, but just keep in mind that what you're looking at is some extremely early-alpha footage:

While I can definitively see a bit of Dark Souls' influence on EITR, the way it handles difficulty is quite different. For example, leveling up in EITR gives you a choice between permanent upgrades and more powerful perks that can be lost upon death. Similarly, EITR's randomized loot will greatly enhance your combat efficiency, but the rusty equipment might just break upon death. Getting the right balance here is going to be a bit of a nightmare for the developers, but if they can manage to tweak everything to perfection this could be one rather interesting difficulty system.

Whether they will succeed or not, I'm afraid we'll have to wait for a while in order to find out as EITR's release date is still unknown. If you would like to follow its development moving forward, or just learn a little bit more about it, you should head over to either the official website or Steam. And finally, allow me to leave you with a couple of images:
