In the most basic sense Drifting Lands is a Diablo inspired horizontal shoot'em'up. It has a large variety of levels with randomly generated enemies, three classes of ships with around 60 different skills to mess around with, and naturally, a complex loot system with a ridiculous amount of possible item permutations. In other words, its a hack & slash where the sword has been replaced with a space ship.

If you're not sure what in the world I'm talking about, you'll find the recently posted launch trailer right below. It'll give you a pretty good idea of what exactly Drifting Lands is all about, and how its RPG elements tie into the gameplay. Have a look:

As you can probably guess from the title Drifting Lands has just recently arrived on Steam, and I'm very glad to say that it has gathered mostly positive reviews. I haven't played it myself so take the following with a grain of salt, but according to all of the comments I've read its exactly what it says on the tin - a horizontal ARPG where the classic mouse-smashing gameplay has been replaced with shoot'em'up mechanics instead. Its not a gameplay style that will appeal to everyone, but if you're a fan of these two genres it might be worth checking out.

To learn more, about either the gameplay or story, you should head over to Steam or the official website. And finally, allow me to send you off with a couple of colorful images:
