Don't Starve survival game artwork showing off Wilson the Gentleman Scientist

While Klei Entertainment's focus is mostly on Don't Starve Together these days, they still decided to give Don't Starve a nice little treat for its tenth anniversary. That said, 'little' might not be the best description for it as the freshly released and quality-of-life focused update is absolutely massive!

The highlights include a couple of fancy new items, the ability to utilize materials in chests while crafting, an optional integrated backpack layout, as well as a complete redesign of the Ancient Guardian fight. You can also look forward to more sensible cave world generation, Deerclops attacks that actually match their visual effects, adorable baby water beefalo, and the list goes on for a very, very long time.

There is simply far too much stuff to easily summarize, especially since all of it is very specific, so if you're curious about all of the details you can find the full patch notes over at Steam.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as Don't Starve Together has also received a bunch of new additions, though these are obviously a bit smaller in scope. Still, the From Beyond: Taking Root update brings with it magical rifts that will spew out lunar energy into the world, new enemies that seem to have a strange interest in plants, as well as an assortment of powerful new equipment you can craft by utilizing the new materials.

Best of all, this is just the beginning of a 3-part set of updates! So while the exact schedule hasn't been announced just yet, you can definitely expect to see more and more lunar madness as time goes on.

Have fun with all of the new (or newly improved) stuff, and I'll leave you with the trailer for the Taking Root update. Enjoy!
