Cult of the Lamb action-roguelike official artwork and logo

[Update]: The Relics of the Old Faith update has now arrived with revamped bosses, new abilities, items and much more.

While Cult of the Lamb is a highly entertaining game, in its current state it's mostly a one-and-done sort of affair. There simply isn't enough depth or variety present in the gameplay to warrant going through its four dungeons over and over again, which is a darn shame since the whole idea behind Cult of the Lamb is quite a unique one.

There is a good chance that might be changing in the near future, however, as the Cult of the Lamb team is currently working on a major new update. While the exact details are still few and far between, this update will spruce up the gameplay by adding a fancy new heavy attack for all weapons, on top of a variety of other features that will bring in additional depth, difficulty, accessibility and quality-of-life options to mess around with.

As for the heavy attacks, the Cult of the Lamb team has revealed three of them so far. The sword can unleash a powerful frontal attack that also knocks back enemies, the axe can be thrown in a boomerang fashion in order to slice up enemies at range, while the dagger is able to summon a rain of daggers that assault everyone in a line in front of you. Needless to say, the new abilities should be a lot of fun to experiment with, especially if the enemies get a bit of an upgrade as well.

Continuing with the theme, no exact release date has been announced just yet. What I can tell you is that there will be a bugfixing patch launching in early 2023, after which the team will focus primarily on the content update itself. So while you likely won't have to wait too long in order to get your hands on it, a little bit of patience is still advised.

Once more information becomes available, ideally alongside a gameplay preview, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a few more tidbits about Cult of the Lamb's future over at Steam. Enjoy!
