If you're eagerly waiting for Konami to stop being Konami and actually do something with the Castlevania series, I might have found a little game to tide you over until Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night finally arrives. The game in question is Castlevania: The Lecarde Chronicles 2 - a surprisingly faithful homage to the Castlevania games of old, as well as rather enjoyable fan game in its own right.

I've only played it for about thirty minutes so far, but from everything I've seen it both feels and plays like the oldschool Castlevania games. But don't just take my word for it, allow me to show you the relatively recent launch trailer. Have a look:

What might come as the biggest surprise with The Lecarde Chronicles 2 is that none of the artwork or music is ripped from the old Castlevania games. All of it, both the visuals and music, has been hand-made by the developers themselves! This might not mean much in terms of gameplay, but it should at least give you an idea of how much love and care went into making this fan game a reality.

If you would like to give The Lecarde Chronicles 2 a try you should head over to the official website. The download is about 360MB in size, and as you might expect its completely free of charge. So if you're a fan of the oldschool Castlevania games you might want to give it a try as it really is a faithful homage to the series' roots.
