In a bit of a departure from their usual formula, Stunlock Studios have now released their vampire themed survival and crafting game V Rising into Early Access. As you might imagine given the mixture of genres and themes, V Rising is all about building the coolest evil castle you can possibly think of, plundering the countryside for valuable resources and food, as well as doing your best to avoid getting destroyed by the searing daylight, holy hunters, or just your fellow players with a nasty grudge!

What all of this looks like in action, that you can get a pretty good idea of through the launch trailer below. Have a gander, it's a rather fun one:

According to the current plans V Rising will most likely spend about a year in Early Access. During this time the Stunlock team will release new biomes and dungeons to explore, more weapons and spells to toy around with, new cosmetics and crafting recipes to help spice things up, and naturally, the usual assortment of balance tweaks and improvements.

So if you're looking for a fully finished and polished experience, you might want to give Stunlock a bit more time. On the other hand, if you don't mind diving in early and seeing what all the fuss is about, you'll be happy to hear that V Rising is quite enjoyable even in its early state. Just don't expect it to hold your attention for very long as it's obviously still unfinished.
