Dota 2 character in an FPS mod.

I knew that Dota 2 modding tools were going to spawn some interesting games but this soon? Incredible.

BMD's Slayer of the Ancients mod transforms the game in to a third person shooter with WASD controls. While still rough around the edges I can see this mod becoming something really special. Don't believe me? Check out the gameplay footage, I'll embed the video below.

Portal 2 themed car.

If you thought I was praising Psyonix and their Rocket League too much already then I'm afraid your head might explode given that I just realized they announced an official crossover with Portal 2.

And not only is the game getting a whole bunch of cool cosmetics, you will be able to get them completely free as after-match drops. Portal themed drops will be available from December 1st.

My steam recommendations.

Today's Steam Sale is bringing a lot of lengthy games so if you value your free time, beware!

That said, let's start with my Steam Sale recommendations for December 29:

A screenshot of a well lit character at night.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was a visually beautiful game with a rather intriguing story but it garnered a lot of criticism due to the fact that there is basically no real "gameplay" to speak of. It is a part of the rather newly created "exploration" genre where you have no foes opposing you or difficult challenges to overcome, instead the focus is on roaming around pretty worlds solving puzzles and trying to unlock whatever mystery might be present.

Their new game however, according to a job posting, is going to be an open world action-adventure which is quite the departure from The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

It would appear I was correct yesterday when I said that the sales then are going to be hard to match but even so there are some solid deals on today's Steam Sale.

Instead of wasting your time on lengthy introductions let's move straight to my top recommendations for the December 28th Steam Sale:

Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, confirmed that there will be an official app for PS4 remote play on the PC as well as Mac.

While I'm aware this won't be of any consequence to many of you its still a nice option to have available. Here's what Yoshida had to say:

I didn't initially cower this rumor because it wasn't known if this is just a demo or a full version but this whole story first appeared on the Australian classification website.

And now it would seem that Konami has not only confirmed the rumor that Pro Evolution Soccer is getting a free to play version, they've also given a date, December 8.

As of right now it is exclusive to the PS4 and the PS3 but I'm expecting it to come to PC eventually as well, most likely not on the same date though.

Celebrating 15 years of Hitman (I really feel old now) Square Enix is offering Hitman 2: Silent Assassin for free.

As far as Hitman is concerned I think I can safely say that the series only became incredible with Blood Money but even so Hitman 2 is a classic and worth your time if you enjoy that type of game, if for no other reason than to experience a bit of history.

NOTE: In order to claim your copy you will need a valid US address.

Another day brings us another great Steam sale.

This one in particular contains a lot of my favorite franchises so without further adieu here are my recommendations for the 27th of December:

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Fallout 4 is a bad game. On the contrary, I think Fallout 4 is a great game. However its RPG elements are sadly lackluster.

I want to explore a world that seems alive, not one where there are barely any traces of civilization even after 200 years. Basically, I'd like to see Obsidian do to Fallout 4 what New Vegas did to Fallout 3.

With this in mind I compiled below a small list of things I'd like to see in the next Fallout game, things that might not have a big impact on gameplay but definitely have a big impact on how immersive and interesting the world is.
