Layers of Fear is a first-person psychedelic horror game with the focus placed firmly on story and exploration. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will have to roam around a constantly changing Victorian mansion, peruse a variety of artwork that may or may not try to scare the living daylight out of you, and naturally, figure out what in the world is even happening.

For those of you wondering whether Layers of Fear is even worth your time, it would appear the answer is yes. I haven't played it myself so I can't give you any specifics, but according to the overwhelmingly positive Steam reviews its atmosphere and storytelling are excellent, while the various horror elements are a bit of a mixed bag. So if you're more interested in exploration than getting constantly spooked, Layer of Fear seems like its worth a try.
