In the most basic terms, the God Eater series can be compared with Monster Hunter. Its all about wondering through the world and hunting down gigantic monstrosities, messing around with a variety of different character builds and weapons, crafting more powerful gear in order to hunt down even bigger monsters, and so forth. Besides tons and tons of combat the God Eater series also focuses on storytelling, though your enjoyment of it will greatly depend on your tolerance of JRPG tropes.
With that little bit of an introduction aside, you might be interested to hear that God Eater 3 has now been officially announced! There are basically no details available as of right now, but what I can share is the recently posted in-game trailer, as well as the brief plot synopsis that came along with the announcement. Have a look:
"Earth no longer resembles the home we know of now. The Aragami, terrifying beasts that live only to consume, are carving a path of destruction and misery wherever they are encountered. To combat this threat an elite group of heroes known as God Eaters are called upon to save humanity. God Eaters are individuals who have been bestowed upon them the ability to wield powerful new God Arcs, special weapons powered by Oracle Cells and the only known weapons capable of destroying the monstrous Aragami.
However, another mission is coming into focus; something is happening to the God Eaters and the line between light and dark has never been so thin. It’s time to start breaking free from the cursed shackles that bind the souls of the God Eaters as the battle rages on around them".
Its currently unknown what platforms God Eater 3 is going to launch on, but given how God Eater 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, I'm guessing the same is going to apply to the third one as well. As for the release date, I'm afraid its equally shrouded in mystery, though if I was a betting man I would go with mid-late 2018 purely based on the trailer above.
