If you're looking for something interesting to do while you hide away from the scorching heat, you'll be happy to hear that Killing Floor 2, The Escapists 2, as well as Lifeless Planet are all entirely free to grab.

Simply head on over to the Epic Games Store, log into your account or create a brand new one, and you'll be ready to play after a brief download. The only catch is that the whole giveaway will end on July 16th, so do make sure to add the games to your account sooner rather than later.

As for whether these games are worth your time and effort, I would say the answer is a definitive yes. I unfortunately know nothing about Lifeless Planet, but both Killing Floor 2 and The Escapists 2 are a good bit of fun, especially in short bursts. And considering they're entirely free, I really don't see much of a reason not to dive in and give them a try.
