[Update]: The next giveaway has now arrived, and this time around it's the truly excellent story-focused RPG Fallout: New Vegas.

If you're curious about Hideo Kojima's take on the whole 'walking simulator' genre and you've somehow managed to avoid giving Death Stranding a try all this time, consider this your lucky day... or perhaps unlucky depending on when you happen to stumble upon this article. In either case, the PC version of Death Stranding is currently free to grab over at the Epic Games Store.

As always, there is a bit of a catch, and that would be the time limit. In this case the giveaway will only be live until May 25th, so do make sure to snag yourself a copy before it goes back to its regular price. You don't even need to install it right now - just add it to your account and you'll be able to play it whenever you want and for however long you want.

For those of you wondering whether Death Stranding is even worth your time and effort, that I'm afraid is a difficult question to answer as Death Stranding is a remarkably niche game. It's essentially a story-focused walking simulator where most of the actual gameplay is just you hoofing it from one location to another with only the occasional bit of challenge to shake things up for a few moments.

I found it to be the perfect companion for a podcast or audiobook since I could just swap between the two to keep myself entertained, though I can definitely understand why some people absolutely hated the whole thing and how monotonous it could get at times. So if you're looking for advice, I'd say give Death Stranding a try as it really is quite unique. Worst case scenario, at least you'll figure out quite quickly if the gameplay isn't your cup of tea.

Whatever the case may be, I hope you have fun with it. Enjoy, and I'll leave you with the surprisingly lengthy launch trailer to help set up the atmosphere:
