Total War: Warhammer 3 screenshot of the leaked custom Daemon Prince lord

[Update #2]: Total War: Warhammer 3's newest and rather lengthy gameplay preview shows off the Chaos Undivided faction in action!

[Update]: The full reveal has now gone live, and I'm happy to say it's even better than expected!

While Creative Assembly has revealed the vast majority of content coming in with Total War: Warhammer 3, they have kept the identity of the final Legendary Lord a closely guarded secret. Considering his importance in the lore and his status among fans, I fully expected this to be Be'lakor at the head of a Chaos Undivided faction, but it looks like it's far more exciting than that!

According to a leak that has just sprung on the Total War subreddit, the final Legendary Lord will be the most awesome one in the entire setting - you! If this isn't some sort of elaborate hoax, it seems like Total War: Warhammer 3 will allow us to play as our very own Daemon Prince, dedicate ourselves to whichever gods we like, and then create our very own Chaos faction from their units.

The way the Daemon Prince customization works is also quite exciting. Instead of picking and choosing from a couple of presets at the start of the campaign, you'll essentially be able to bolt on a variety of body parts and armaments earned throughout the campaign, each one themed after one of the Chaos gods and each one offering some sort of unique benefit. So if you want to go full Khorne you can essentially become a beefed up Bloodthirster, or if you're more of a Chaos Undivided kind of person you can mix and match parts to create a monstrosity that will make the Empire shake in its boots.

Needless to say, I am absolutely in favor of this system. Not only is it incredibly flavorful and fully in-line with how Chaos gods operate, but it also promises even more exciting things in the future. Could you imagine if they extended this system to regular units so Chaos Chosen get enhanced as they prove themselves in the eyes of the gods? Or how about mercenaries like Dogs of War? Having customizable units for such a ragtag band of misfits would be a great way to make them feel like more than just a repeat of what we've already seen!

The leak has also revealed that Total War: Warhammer 3's multiplayer campaigns will support up to eight players, and that there will be two smaller campaigns that can be completed in a single evening. I can only hope that this too ends up being true, because that is once again some incredible news!

Once the full reveal goes live, most likely on January 19th, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I'd recommend trying not to get too excited as it's entirely possible some of the details might be wrong.
