Pac-Man Championship Edition DX screenshot

The original Pac-Man: Championship Edition released all the way back in 2007, and much to my surprise it ended up being one of the best Pac-Man games I've ever played. With that in mind, I'm glad to say that there seems to be a sequel in development.

As noticed by Eurogamer, the Korean ratings board has been updated with a listing for Pac-Man: Championship Edition 2. The current release platforms are PC, PS4, and Xbox One, though unfortunately there is no estimated release date or even a brief description of the gameplay features.

Gabe Newel as the prophet of discounts

We're currently on Day 3 of the big Steam Summer Sale, and I hope you are prepared for the things to come as there is still more than week of non-stop discounts and card-induced madness to go through.

As before, here are my humble recommendations on which games to grab during today's Steam Sale, all chosen based on their quality and the depth of their discount. The order is, once again, completely random:

Heroes of the Storm skins used during the Summer Championship

After much virtual bloodshed the 2016 Heroes of the Storm Summer Championship has now wound down to a close. Tempest has been crowned as the victor, and in order to celebrate an exciting series of matches Blizzard has decided to extend the festivities to all players.

Every single character is currently available for free to all players in all regions, so if you ever wanted to check out a hero or two without spending your hard earned gold, now's your chance. The free hero event will last until June 28, though no specific hour has been given just yet.

Oculus Rift headset promo art

Oculus has garnered a lot of criticism over the past few months due to their insistence on DRM that locks away Oculus applications from being played on anything other than the Rift. This was eventually cracked, as you would expect, but the idea of trying to stifle their competition in such a way didn't go favorably with the general public, especially given the young and vulnerable state of VR gaming.

In a bit of an unexpected twist, however, the DRM has been quietly removed as a part of the recent Oculus June update, and the various pieces of Oculus software no longer preform their hardware checks when starting up. While there is no official set of patch notes to confirm that its indeed gone, an Oculus representative recently sent a message to Motherboard confirming that the DRM has been completely removed, and that it won't be coming back again. Steam Sale Gaben

Day 2 of the Steam Summer Sale has rolled on by, and with it the money from my Steam account, but its all for a good cause! I'm sure I'll get the time to play all of these games I've bought within the next decade or so.

Continuing on with the grand tradition set yesterday, here are my recommendations on which games to grab during Day 2 of the Steam Summer Sale. As before, I'm focusing on quality games with deep discounts attached to them, with the order being completely and utterly random:

Shovel Knight's Specter Knight in action

[Update]: Shovel Knight devs are working on a new 8-bit action-adventure - Mina the Hollower!

Deciding on a course of action, especially one that will consume the next two years of your life, is an impossibly difficult decision, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Yacht Club is looking for community suggestions on what to develop next.

Since simply asking the question in an online forum would be a disastrously terrible idea, the devs opted to instead go with a simple poll where you get to rate how excited you are about certain concepts. There's 12 concepts in total, and I'm happy to say that every single one of them is an idea well worth exploring!

Sean Bean from the Civilization VI trailer

Sean Bean, seemingly on a break from dying in every movie he stars in, has opted to a bit of voice-work for the E3 gameplay demo of Civilization 6, and the results are quite glorious, I must admit. You'll also be happy to know that he does indeed make it to the very end of the 12 minute long demo!

Silliness aside, the gameplay demo charts the rise of a nation, from its humble beginnings, all the way to its cosmic destiny. If you ever wondered what the Civilization series is all about, this video will give you a pretty clear picture of what exactly goes into creating a worldwide superpower, without any of the sleepless nights that somehow always occur in the process:

Banner Saga 2's combat and Survival Mode

After nearly two months of development the Survival Mode Update has arrived for The Banner Saga 2. Best of all, its completely free! Well, as long as you own the game anyway...

In Survival Mode you will need to assemble your combat team from a wide range of existing Banner Saga characters, and then pit them against 40 waves of various nasties. Most interestingly, there is perma-death in battle, so if one of your heroes dies, that's it, there's no coming back for them.

Overwatch's Reaper staring menacingly at the camera

Overwatch's ranked mode recently entered public testing, and while the majority of its features have received nothing but praise, the Sudden Death mechanic has garnered a fair bit of negative criticism. The issue, as the community sees it, is that each Sudden Death is decided by a "coin flip", rather than through a display of superior skill. The coin flip in this case being whether the matchmaker assigns your team as the attacker or the defender during Sudden Death, mostly because the attackers have a much easier time achieving victory outside of the final capture point.

While its understandable, and expected, to see people complain about changes that seem unfair, its not very often that you see a game's director come out and tackle the complaints head on. However, that is exactly what Jeff Kaplan did, and trough a rather lengthy forum post he explained the team's decisions behind Sudden Death, what works and what doesn't, and what exactly will be changed in the future. Since the whole thing is too big to quote properly, here's a couple of the most relevant and interesting paragraphs:

Steam's Summer sale is here, and here are my recommendations

After being mercilessly teased and rumored for a couple of months now, the big Steam Summer Sale has finally arrived! And then promptly went away as millions of people pile-drove the Steam servers back into the Stone Age.

Now that the storefront has recovered and the deals display more than empty percentages, its time to dig in and see what exactly is worth grabbing today. The following games have been chosen based on their quality (in my humble opinion anyway) and the depth of their discount, with the order being pretty much completely random:
