Widowmaker's Summer Games 2017 bikini skin

After what feels like an eternity of waiting and rumors Overwatch has finally received its second annual Summer Games event. As you might expect it has arrived with a variety of beach themed skins, all of the old and awesome cosmetics such as Nihon Genji and Americree, as well as a competitive version of the Lucioball game mode.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in game, wonder no more as Blizzard has released a brief teaser showcasing some of the new content. So if you don't mind a little 'spoiler', have a look:

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen screenshot of the Spectre

XCOM 2's War of the Chosen expansion is planning to greatly improve upon the original, while also adding a bunch of new storylines to explore, factions to befriend, and enemies to casually obliterate. Last week the developers introduced the zombie-like hordes of The Lost, while this time around we're getting a sneak peek at three new elite Advent units.

The first of these new units is designed specifically to combat The Lost through the use of a powerful flamethrower that can set a large area ablaze. As you might imagine, the Purifier's flamethrower is equally as deadly to your own squad as it is to The Lost, so you'll need to make sure you maintain a range advantage. The Purifier does also have a couple of incendiary grenades to compensate for this weaknesses, but nullifying those is much easier than avoiding a constant spray of flame directly in your face.

On August 10th Total War: Warhammer will be getting the long-awaited Norsca DLC, as well as an accompanying update that fixes many of the issues found throughout the Old World. Norsca itself will be given for free to everyone who pre-orders or purchases Total War: Warhammer 2 within the first week of launch, though it will also be available as a standalone purchase. If you don't feel like buying the DLC, worry not as Norsca will be present in both the singleplayer campaign and multiplayer, so you'll still be able to make a cozy mammoth rug out of them.

As for the free update, its pretty much everything the community has been asking for these past few months. The Empire AI will now start with the entire Reikland province which should ensure they actually reach the end-game, Chaos now replenishes their forces more quickly and is able to subjugate Norscans more easily, and the Wood Elves are getting some rather interesting followers that come with massive pros and equally massive cons.

LawBreakers screenshot of the lightning hands attack

LawBreakers is a fast-paced arena shooter with an extremely casual relationship with physics and common sense. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will spend a lot of your time zipping around the battlefield at high speeds, shooting at everyone else attempting to do the same with a variety of classic and outright strange weaponry, and sometimes even remembering there are objectives to complete.

After going through multiple beta tests on both PC and PS4 LawBreakers has now finally released in full. It is worth mentioning that despite the early announcements claiming it will be free-to-play, LawBreakers will actually set you back a considerable €30. You can find out more by heading over to either Steam or the official website.

Shadow of War screenshot of the paid Loot Boxes

Microtransactions and randomly generated paid Loot Boxes have become a common sight in MMOs today, and while I have absolutely no love for them I can at least understand why they exist - if the game itself is free, the developers have to earn their bread somehow. But when it comes to purely singleplayer games, singleplayer games that you have to buy at a full AAA price tag, then its less about keeping the game running and more about milking the playerbase for all its worth.

Unfortunately, it is exactly this that the Shadow of War team proudly announced in their most recent "Introducing the Market" blog post. By using premium currency, or vast amounts of rare in-game currency, players will be able to purchase Loot Boxes, boosters, and other such items that help them level up quicker, give them better followers, or just help them customize those they own. As is tradition with these types of systems, everything can be earned through in-game means, but I sure hope you have an excess of free time as you're going to be grinding away for quite a while.

Dynasty Warriors 9 screenshot of a spearman in action

Dynasty Warriors, while definitely an awesome series with plenty of enjoyable moments, has always been riddled with bugs and other such annoyances. If you were hoping this would not be the case with Dynasty Warriors 9, I am afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you as the most recent gameplay video showcases quite a variety of bugs and glitches.

The video you'll find right below is entirely in Japanese, though that shouldn't be too much of a problem given that Dynasty Warriors 9 is almost entirely focused on the action. But enough babble from me, here's the video:

Hearthstone's Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion official artwork

If you were hoping Blizzard will add the much-anticipated Death Knight hero as a part of the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion, I'm afraid you're in for a bit of a disappointment, but they are bringing in the next best thing. What I mean by this is that there will be a Legendary card that transforms your basic hero into a much more evil, and naturally, much more powerful variant!

In total you can expect to see 135 new cards from the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion, many of which actually seem viable even on first glance. You can get a good look at about 78/135 of the cards, including some of the above mentioned 'Death Knights', by visiting the official website. Unfortunately, Blizzard still refuses to put tokens alongside cards, so for some of them you're just going to have to wait until the expansion arrives before you can figure out what they actually do.

Ark: Survival Evolved screenshot of a mighty dragon

Back in June Ark: Survival Evolved developers pinned the official launch date on August 8th, but unfortunately it would appear that their estimate was a bit too ambitious. In order to have everything up and ready for launch the developers have now pushed back the release date to August 29th, though this news isn't all negative.

Since they now have a few extra weeks on their hands, the developers have decided to put even more features and content into the already massive Ragnarok update that will coincide with the full release. As such, you can expect an absolutely gigantic update, far bigger than what the developers initially advertised. As for what exactly the update will contain, here's what the developers were willing to share:

Rainbow Six Siege artwork for Operation Velvet Shell

Besides the usual balance changes and content updates, Rainbow Six Siege's upcoming Season 3 patch will also bring with it some major technical improvements. First and foremost, Ubisoft will be creating a new foundation for future patches that will reduce their size, reduce loading times across the board, and in general make the whole patching process a lot simpler and less prone to problems. Unfortunately, given the severity of these changes you will need to redownload a rather large amount of data, up to 42GB for the PC version with ultra textures.

That would be the short version, but if you're interested in the full breakdown of what Ubisoft is changing and why they're doing so, you'll find the full explanation right below. Have a look:

BioShock Remastered screenshot of the lighthouse at night

BioShock Remastered, as you might imagine from the name alone, is a greatly improved version of the original classic. It comes with 4K resolution support, high resolution textures and models, full controller support, director's commentary featuring Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson, as well as Challenge Rooms to test your combat skills.

It released on PC and consoles back in 2016, and after one hell of a wait it appears that BioShock Remastered will also be making its way to Mac as well. The release date hasn't been announced just yet, but you can expect to see it at some point later this year.

As with most ports these days the Mac version will not be handled by the developers themselves, but rather by Feral Interactive. If the name doesn't ring a bell, you might know them better from their work on the Mac and Linux versions of Dawn of War 3, Total War: Warhammer, XCOM 2, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the list goes on.
