Outlast screenshot of a giant shadow of a man

The Humble Store is currently holding an End of Summer Sale, and in order to get a few more eyes onto the storefront they are now giving away the horror game Outlast and its DLC. This offer will only last for another 25 hours, so I would recommend you go and grab Outlast as soon as possible. You don't even need to install it, once its in your Steam account you will own it forever.

If you're wondering whether Outlast is even worth your time, however, I would say that it depends on whether you're a fan of horror games or not. From a purely gameplay standpoint its a bit repetitive as all you really do is run away, but that is easily counteracted by a great atmosphere and some pants-wettingly terrifying scenes. So if you're looking for a survival horror game where you blast away hordes of zombies with a giant shotgun, I'm afraid you won't find that here, but if you're into slow, brooding horror then Outlast is definitely worth playing.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 artwork for the main characters

Besides being a pretty damn good game, Divinity: Original Sin 2 has one very important feature that sets it apart from the rest of the genre - a DnD inspired Game Master mode! As you might imagine from its name alone, Game Master mode allows you to create and run your very own campaigns, as well as modify them on the go to better tailor the story to your players. Its a little bit complex, but well worth the trouble.

If you would like to see the Game Master mode in action, or learn how to mess around with all of the available tools, I would recommend you check out the recently posted developer tutorial. The video is fairly lengthy, but thankfully very little of it is pointless fluff. Have a look, its quite interesting:

Sea of Thieves screenshot of an uncharted island

Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer focused pirate adventure and exploration game where you'll need to search for hidden treasure, pillage ships piloted by other players, and hopefully make it back to port in one piece in order to cash in your booty. In theory its everything one could hope for from a multiplayer pirate game, so hopefully it'll end up being just as good as it sounds.

While its release date is still far off, Sea of Thieves devs have recently posted a video detailing the 10 most important things you should know about before jumping into the fray. So if you're even remotely interested in a pirate adventure you should probably check out the video right below. Have a look:

Hollow Knight: The Grimm Troupe screenshot of a new boss

Hollow Knight's very first free content update arrived last month, and already the developers are announcing the second wave. The upcoming Grimm Troupe patch will add a brand new major quest and accompanying boss fights, 4 new charms that grant unique new skills and abilities, a whole bunch of new enemies to fight and friends to chat up, as well as a variety of general improvements and quality-of-life changes.

While the recently posted teaser trailer won't exactly give you a good look at all of the new features, it will at least get you into the right mood. Have a look, its quite a short video:

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite screenshot of Gamora in battle

The latest in the Marvel vs Capcom series has now arrived on PC and consoles, though I'm afraid the public reception isn't exactly stellar. I haven't played it myself as I'm not much of a fighting game fan, but according to the Steam user reviews Infinite suffers from a fairly boring roster, dated visuals, and an abysmal singleplayer story. So if you consider any of that a dealbreaker you should probably wait a few months and see what happens when Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite gets all of the planned updates and DLCs.

If you need a small example that showcases all of these problems in action, as well as what the general gameplay is all about, you should check out the recently posted launch trailer down below. Its cheesy to the point of hilarity, though that's par for the course with fighting games. Have a look:

Rocket League screenshot of the new LAN mode on PC

After what feels like an eternity of waiting Rocket League will soon start supporting local multiplayer. In other words, you'll be able to host and join LAN matches for up to eight players without ever needing to connect to the Internet! Besides this fairly major addition the update will also bring in a brand new seasonal map by the name of Farmstead, as well as numerous improvements to both Wasteland and Starbase Arc.

There are also a whole bunch of minor changes to go over, some of which are cosmetic in nature, so its probably for the best that you check out the recently posted teaser trailer. Its not very long, but it will give you a pretty good idea of just what to expect from the Autumn Update. Have a look:

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire screenshot of a Raptor mount

Guild Wars 2's Path of Fire expansion is set to arrive tomorrow, September 22nd, bringing with it a whole bunch of new content to explore. We'll be able to trek across the vast regions of the Crystal Desert and the adjoining kingdom of Elona, try out nine new Elite Specializations, fight against the Human god of war Batlhazar and his endless hordes of metallic minions, and perhaps most interestingly of all, ride a variety of mounts that each come with their own unique abilities and effects.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in-game, wonder no more as ArenaNet has now released a decently lengthy trailer showcasing Path of Fire's story, visuals, and mounts. Its not the most detailed overview, but it should give you a good idea of what Path of Fire is all about. Have a look:

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee screenshot of Elum and a giant cactus

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is a fairly old puzzle-adventure that will have you navigate a variety of bizarre alien landscapes, avoid deadly traps and equally deadly critters, as well as save your fellow Modokons from being transformed into a meaty snack. I've replayed it a couple of years ago and it has definitely not aged well, but all of the strange charm is still present so I'd say its well worth a try regardless of its flaws.

Whether you're interested or not I would highly recommend you hop over to either Steam, GOG, or the Humble Store as Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee will only remain free to grab for the next 10 hours. Once you have it in your account it will remain yours forever, so make sure to snatch it now and ponder about playing it later.

Screenshot of the "walking simulator" Firewatch

One of the biggest problems Steam's User Review system had from the very beginning was its vulnerability to review bombing. Since its entirely automated there is simply no way for the system to tell if the vast amounts of negative reviews are due to a genuine flaw with the game, or because one of the developers did something incredibly daft on the side. The end result was a highly unreliable system, a system where you couldn't really judge whether the game itself was any good or not.

As you might imagine, there is no easy way to solve this problem. On one hand you have enjoyable games like Firewatch getting massive amounts of negative reviews due to the developer's actions outside of the game itself, and on the other you have a countless array of games that have either become completely broken, stopped getting updated, or implemented pay-to-win microtransactions. Thankfully, Valve has decided to handle this issue in the best way they possibly could - by presenting the buyer with as much information as possible!

Monster Hunter: World screenshot of a party of heroes near the cliff's edge

Capcom has just recently announced that Monster Hunter: World will be coming to consoles on January 26th, 2018. The release date for the PC version is yet to be revealed, but on the positive side we at least now have a brand new trailer showing off a variety of environments and gigantic monsters.

There is unfortunately no English version of the trailer so you're going to miss out on all of the 'highly important' story bits, but thankfully the rest of the video is told through the universal language of dinosaur-smacking. Have a look, its quite pleasing on the eyes:
