Black Mirror adventure game official artwork without logo

Before you even ask, the answer is no, this Black Mirror has absolutely nothing in common with the Twilight Zone inspired TV series of the same name. It does, however, have a lot in common with the ancient point & click adventure game called Black Mirror 1, mostly because its a modern re-imagining of the very same story.

It is worth mentioning that the modern Black Mirror will not be a simple tune-up as the original's gameplay is quite slow and arduous by today's standards. Instead, it will come with improved gameplay that's focused around exploration and careful examination, newly crafted visuals and a much better sound design, as well as "high quality voice acting from a compelling ensemble cast". If you're wondering what this might look like in action, wonder no more as THQ Nordic have recently posted a brief gameplay trailer. Have a gander:

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus screenshot of a flaming robot dog

[Update]: Thanks to a partnership between Bethesda and GOG, the entire Dishonored series and the first two modern Wolfenstein games are now available DRM-free.

While it initially received overwhelmingly positive reviews, the public opinion on Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus has taken a bit of a downward turn in the recent weeks. So if you're not sure whose opinion to trust, you'll be glad to hear that Bethesda has now released a free demo for both PC and consoles.

If you're planning to test it out on PC simply head on over to Steam, navigate to the "Download Demo" button that's to the right of the purchase button, and you'll be playing in no time. As far as content is concerned, this demo will allow you to play through the entire first level, after which you will need the full version to continue. Naturally, your progress will carry over to the full version, regardless of when you buy it.

Official artwork for Gwent's Thronebreaker expansion

After being in beta for quite a while now, CDPR has announced that their Witcher inspired card game Gwent will be officially released in 2018. In order to prepare for the upcoming launch the team will be increasing the tempo of multiplayer updates, while the singleplayer content will be rolling out at a similar pace. In other words, you can expect to see new cards, challenges, vanity items, and balance patches arrive with a much greater frequency as we inch closer towards release.

On a somewhat disappointing note, I also have to announce that CDPR has delayed Thonebreaker, Gwent's very first singleplayer story-driven campaign, until 2018. If its any consolation, Thronebreaker is being pushed further back in order to give the team enough time to properly flesh out all of the content, as well as increase the campaign's already massive scope! So while we might be waiting for a while for Thronebreaker to arrive, at least it seems like its going to be one very content-rich expansion.

Steam Autumn Sale artwork of a man playing cards with wolves

After being leaked and rumored for quite a few weeks now, the Steam Autumn Sale has finally arrived with alongside a whole bunch of discounts. There are also some account badges to earn by participating in the sale, though unlike the ones from the early days these badges don't appear to be anything more than a bit of cosmetic fluff.

Besides the sale itself, today also marks the start of the nominations for the Steam Awards - Valve's annual ceremony that seeks to celebrate the most unique and interesting games out there. As such, the categories are quite broad and open to interpretation, so feel free to vote for whatever game you feel deserves the recognition, be it indie or AAA. The Steam Awards nominations will only be open until November 28th, so make sure to head on over to the official website as soon as possible.

Total War: Rome 2 - Empire Divided screenshot of a lord charging into battle

Total War: Rome 2's Empire Divided DLC is set to arrive in the very near future, bringing with it 10 new factions and a whole bunch of new features to contend with. You can expect to see stuff like plagues and banditry, cults and an overhauled politics system, new general skills, new narrative technologies, updated building chains and new unique units, and the list goes on for quite a while.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in gameplay terms, wonder no more as Creative Assembly have just posted a lengthy preview video showing off the Gallic Rome campaign. Have a look, it seems to be quite an interesting campaign:

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition screenshot of a dead and unimpressed Beholder

Beamdog has announced that they are currently working on an "Enhanced Edition" of the classic RPG Neverwinter Nights, thus bringing it up to par with the modern versions of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Planescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale. However, while some of those games have received downright impressive changes and visual overhauls, it would appear that Neverwinter Nights will be getting a much more modest upgrade.

You can expect to see the UI scale with resolutions up to 4K, spruced up visuals and a couple of new graphics options, backwards compatibility for save files from the original Neverwinter Nights, as well as a variety of improvements for the modding tools. I'm afraid that's pretty much it as far as features are concerned. If you're wondering why I 'sound' so disappointed by all of this, it would be because I can barely tell the difference between the old and Enhanced Edition! And no, I'm not actually joking. Have a look for yourself:

World of Final Fantasy screenshot of the two main characters and their pets

Despite the name making it sound like a World of Warcraft rip-off, World of Final Fantasy is a singleplayer RPG that aims to celebrate some of the most memorable characters and monsters from the various Final Fantasy games. However, unlike the standard turn-based combat you might be familiar with from other games in the series, World of Final Fantasy has you capture and combine powerful monsters in order to beat down your foes. The combat is similar in concept to the Pokemon games, though with enough new bells and whistles to set it apart.

If you're wondering what this might look like in-game, and more importantly what the overall story is even all about, you'll find the original PS4 trailer down below. There isn't much gameplay on display, but it should still give you a pretty damn good idea of what World of Final Fantasy is trying to accomplish. Have a look:

Code Vein screenshot of enemies in the darkness

As you might deduce from the title and image above, Code Vein is Bandai Namco's upcoming action-RPG that appears to be heavily influenced by the Dark Souls series, both in terms of gameplay mechanics and visuals. The combat is all about precise strikes and careful dodges, while the world and its inhabitants are all dark, twisted, and generally depressing, as one would expect given the Souls influence.

If you need a bit more evidence that this is Bandai Namco's attempt at 'anime-Souls', allow me to share with you the most recent trailer. It wont offer you a detailed look at the combat system, but it will still give you a decent idea of what to expect from Code Vein in terms of characters and playstyle. Have a look:

Total War: Warhammer 2 artwork of Karl Franz flying over Lizardmen

Total War: Warhammer 2's Mortal Empires campaign represents one of the biggest updates the series has seen so far. It is essentially a combination of the maps from Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2, as well as all of the Legendary Lords and the factions they lead, with the end result being an absolutely gigantic world just ripe for conquest. Given the significance of this update Creative Assembly released it to the players as soon as they were able, though unfortunately this hasty approach resulted in some major bugs and large chunks of missing content.

It was only recently that the developers have managed to fix the ridiculous Chaos AI, while most of the major changes that arrived in Total War: Warhammer 1's final update have still not made their way into Total War: Warhammer 2. This include things such as: the Warriors of Chaos design changes, Wood Elf followers, new skill trees and campaign effects for Old World Legendary Lords, the reworked Norsca faction and accompanying DLC, 30 unique Regiments of Renown that came with the Anniversary Update, and the list goes on.

Guild Wars 2 artwork for a giant flaming dragon

Guild Wars 2's Path of Fire expansion brought with it a variety of interesting locations to explore, as well as some of the best mounts I've ever seen in order to help with all of the roaming around. However, while it was an amazing journey the first time around, Path of Fire's content was not designed with any sort of replayability in mind, which has slowly but surely started pushing people away from the Crystal Desert. In order to bring players back, and hopefully offer some long-term goals, ArenaNet has recently announced the very first content update for Path of Fire - Living World: Season 4!

The story details are still shrouded in mystery, but you can get a brief look at Daybreak, the first episode, via the most recent trailer down below. Before you dive in, it is worth mentioning that the trailer contains spoilers for Path of Fire's story, so if you still haven't finished the 'campaign' you might want to avert your eyes. With that said, here's the video:
