Overwatch screenshot of Hanzo with his default skin

After the last developer update was disappointingly nothing more than "we're working on new stuff", I am very glad to say that Blizzard has taken the criticism to heart. As such, today's developer update is all about the various popular topics that have been appearing in the Overwatch community time and time again.

So if you're interested in Jeff Kaplan's thoughts on onetricks, as well as the balance of niche heroes such as Hanzo, Mei and Symmetra, you'll find the latest developer update right below. On the other hand, if you don't have enough time to watch the video, I'll also add my brief summary. Have a look:

Sea of Thieves is a multiplayer focused pirate adventure and exploration game that's all about searching for hidden treasure, pillaging ships piloted by other players, and then hopefully making it back to port before someone else returns the favor. It's a fairly simple concept, but it's one that has a lot of potential if executed well.

If all of this sounds like something you would love to try out, you might be interested to hear that Sea of Thieves devs are running a Closed Beta test until 8am GMT on Monday, January 29th. The only catch is that you needed to join the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme before December 1st in order to get in, or just pre-order the game as that also guarantees beta access. Either way, there should be plenty of content to peruse on Youtube and Twitch, so even if you can't join the Closed Beta you'll still be able to get a closer look at what Sea of Thieves is really all about.

If you've never tried any of the various Paradox grand strategy games, but you have at least some passing interest in them, you're in luck as the latest Humble Bundle is full of some great examples. It features strategy games such as Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis 3 and Stellaris, as well as slightly different but still enjoyable games like Pillars of Eternity and Magicka 2.

You'll find the full list of games, as well as the tier they appear in, right below. Before you do so, it is worth mentioning that the bundle also includes a 10% off coupon for the Humble Monthly Bundle, something that might be of interest to you given that this month's featured game is Civilization 6. With that said, here's the list:

Total War: Warhammer 2 official artwork for Rise of the Tomb Kings

After a whole bunch of teasers and gameplay previews, Total War: Warhammer 2's very first full DLC "Rise of the Tomb Kings" has now arrived. It brings with it a brand new faction with four unique Legendary Lords, an army roster that consists of skeletons and giant stone constructs, unique campaign mechanics and research options, the ability to craft items and Regiments of Renown, and the list goes on.

Rather than to continue babbling on about what the Tomb Kings are all about, allow me to instead share with you one of the recent gameplay previews. It's not very long, but it should give you a pretty damn good idea of how the Tomb Kings work and what exactly makes them special. Have a look:

Far Cry 5 official artwork showing off our antagonists

Far Cry 5 is set to arrive this March 27th for both PC and consoles, bringing with it a larger world and a whole host of visual improvements over Far Cry 4. As such, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that the recently revealed PC system requirements are a bit steeper than usual, though I do imagine you could probably skirt on by with something lower as long as you are willing to fiddle with the graphics options.

Besides the simple "minimum" and "recommended" PC system requirements you'll find below, Ubisoft has also revealed the type of hardware you'll need if you plan on playing Far Cry 5 in 4K resolution. Here's the full list:

If you're looking to fill out your backlog and you've somehow managed to avoid the dozens of sales that happened during these past few weeks, you're in luck as a brand new Steam sale is just around the corner. According to SteamDB who have managed to get their information through Steam Direct, the next Steam sale will run from February 15th to 19th in order to coincide with the Lunar New Year festivities.

Naturally, none of this has been officially confirmed just yet, but SteamDB has been pretty damn accurate in the past, so given that their source is Steam itself odds are they are going to be correct on this one as well. Besides, it makes a lot of sense for Valve to release a massive sale during a holiday where it's customary for people to give children and young adults money.

After spending quite a while on the PTR, the much-anticipated Blizzard World map has now finally arrived onto the live servers. As expected, it also brought with it a variety of Blizzard themed cosmetics, as well as a couple of extra ones that were only announced during the last few days.

But first things first, if you're wondering what exactly Blizzard World looks like, you'll find one of the original trailers right below. It won't show you a detailed overview of the whole map and the various routes it houses, but it should be enough to give you a general idea of what to expect. Have a look:

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age artwork and logo

With most Final Fantasy games already on PC, and Final Fantasy XV coming in the near future, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that the remastered version of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will arrive soon as well. In terms of content the PC version will bring with it support for ultra-wide monitors and 60 FPS, new game plus and minus game modes, the ability to shift between the various soundtracks at will, full controller support, as well as the usual slue of Steam-related features.

If you're wondering what all of this might look like in-game, wonder no more as the developers have recently posted a fairly lengthy trailer. There isn't much actual gameplay on display, but you should still get a general idea of what Final Fantasy XII is all about. Have a look:

Monster Hunter: World screenshot of a dragon attack

The console versions of Monster Hunter: World are set to arrive in the very near future, on January 26th to be specific. As for the PC version, it has just recently been announced that it will be coming at some point this autumn. It's going to be a rather lengthy wait,  but on the positive side it does also mean the developers are prepared to take as long as necessary in order to make all of the dragon hunting as compelling as possible on the PC version.

And speaking of dragons, you might be interested to hear that the developers have recently posted a brief preview video showing off the various Elder Dragons in action. On a slightly more grounded note, it's also worth mentioning that the very first free content update in spring will bring with it the 'fan-favorite' and rather angry Deviljho. But for now, here's the video showing off the Elder Dragons:

Dark Souls Remastered official artwork with logo

The original Dark Souls is without a single doubt my favorite game of all time. It has its flaws and it's obvious the final portions of the game were rushed in order to meet the release date, but the world and its characters are so interesting and peculiar that I think they're going to be stuck in my head forever.

With that in mind, I hope you can now understand just how happy I am to say that Dark Souls will be getting a Remastered Edition! While it doesn't appear that Dark Souls Remastered will bring with it anything other than improvements to graphics and performance, it's still going to be worth checking out given that it'll release on every platform, including the portable Nintendo Switch!
