Total War: Warhammer's Wood Elves army

If you haven't been paying attention to Total War: Warhammer these past few weeks you may have missed the announcement for the latest DLC - Realm of the Wood Elves. As you can probably guess given the name, it brings with it the brand new Wood Elves faction along with new Legendary Lords, exclusive units, a mini story campaign, and all of the other features you have come to expect from a standalone faction.

And if you're wondering what these rather scrawny looking Elves might do in battle, Creative Assembly has also recently released a rather lengthy gameplay preview showcasing them in the thick of combat. Have a look:

While I'm sure balancing the Wood Elves is going to be an ongoing struggle, I look forward to having an entire faction based around archery, ambushes, and in general being a bunch of sneaky little bastards. Total War: Warhammer already has plenty of races that just shout and charge forward, so the Wood Elves are a nice counterpart to all of that.

Whether they will be actually balanced when they arrive, I have no idea, but you won't have to wait for too long in order to find out as the Realm of the Wood Elves DLC is set to arrive on December 8 on Steam. And best of all, even if you don't purchase the rather pricey expansion you'll still be able to interact with the Wood Elves on the campaign map, as well as on the field of battle! Not a bad compromise, all things considered.
