State of Decay 2 artwork and logo for the new Juggernaut Edition

[Update]: State of Decay 2 has now added the rather relaxed Green Zone difficulty mode.

After spending a fair bit of time on the Windows Store, State of Decay 2 has now made its way to Steam as well. It has not done so empty-handed, however, as this move was also accompanied by the rather hefty (and free) Juggernaut Edition update.

There's a brand new open-world map to explore, improved visuals and lighting, better audio and twice the amount of music tracks, as well as a new assortment of heavy melee weapons to crush zombie heads with. You can also expect to see the usual assortment of bug fixes and quality of life changes, as well improvements to the early-game experience.

While a short video obviously isn't enough to highlight all of the new features, you can still get a pretty good idea of what State of Decay 2 and its Juggernaut Edition have to offer through the freshly posted launch trailer. Have a look:

When it comes to its quality, State of Decay 2's Steam user reviews appear to be a bit mixed right now. From what I can, the main complaints are about the technical issues and the online connectivity that makes co-op a bit too finicky to truly enjoy. So if you're planning to grab State of Decay 2, it might be a good idea to wait a couple of weeks, just to make sure all of the major issues get patched out by the time you dive in.

Either way, you can learn more about State of Decay 2 and its Juggernaut Edition update over at the official website.
