DayZ DirectX 11 update will greatly improve FPS

At this point I'm fairly certain that even people who don't play or care about DayZ know full well how it has some terrifying performance issues when visiting large inhabited areas.

These problems might soon become a thing of the past, however, as the recent Dev Log showcased absolutely massive FPS gains due to the switch from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 with Enfusion Rendering. Have a look, though be warned, the constant clip-clopping might just drive you insane:

As you can see, the average FPS went from around ~20 to ~40 in some of the most demanding areas of the game, an amazing achievement for something that is currently not even in a proper alpha state.

Besides "simple" performance fixes, the DirectX 11 renderer brings with it greatly improved environmental effects, an update to the shadow and lighting systems, and other such nifty features that will make the DayZ experience much more immersive.

The bad news is that there is currently no release date set for the engine upgrade and DirectX 11 switch, but the developers are aiming to implement it in the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled on the DayZ Youtube channel.
