[Update]: After two years in Early Access, Griftlands has now successfully been unleashed!

Klei Entertainment, the studio behind Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included, has now unleashed their newest game Griftlands onto Steam Early Access. To put it simply, Griftlands is a rogue-lite deck-building game that's all about making hard choices, picking the right factions and people to support, and naturally, experimenting with a variety of builds before you inevitably pick a fight with someone you really shouldn't have.

Right now Griftlands only has two playable character, though each one has their own unique campaign with different factions to befriend (or annoy) and locations to plunder. Each one also comes with two distinct decks to toy around with, one for battle and one for negotiations, which makes hitting the perfect built quite a tricky affair. So if you're looking for a roguelite game with a bit of longevity, it seems like Griftlands will have you covered.

[Update]: Surgeon Simulator 2 has just made its way to PC alongside a new multiplayer mode and level editor.

While the premise behind the original Surgeon Simulator was fairly stupid, the actual gameplay ended up being remarkably fun, especially once all of the updates rolled in and added a bunch of new content for free. If you share the sentiment, then you'll be glad to hear that Surgeon Simulator 2 will be coming on August 31st, 2020.

It'll bring with it a variety of new scenarios and surgeries to bungle up, co-op mode for up to four players in order to give your patients the least possible chance of survival, and most importantly of all, the ability to create and share your very own levels! While the details are still few and far between, you'll apparently be able to do everything the developers themselves are capable of, so I'm fully expecting to see absolute madness from day one.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits official artwork and logo

[Update #2]: After multiple delays, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is now fully ready to launch.

[Update]: Kena: Bridge of Spirits has been pushed back to 2021 due to the ongoing pandemic.

Besides being downright adorable, the newly announced Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a story-focused action-adventure about a young spirit guide that has to restore the balance of nature while figuring out what exactly caused the demise of her village. In order to achieve this you'll have to face off against a variety of corrupted monsters, team up with an assortment of cutesy companions, solve puzzles and uncover secrets, and slowly but surely restore the beauty of the world.

Given that the atmosphere and visuals are half of the appeal in Kena: Bridge of Spirits, allow me to stop babbling and instead share with you the announcement trailer. Have a gander, it really is a beautiful-looking game:

If you're in the mood for something a little out of the ordinary, you should check out the newly announced Foreclosed. It offers a bit of an interesting blend between cyberpunk action and comic book style visuals, all wrapped up together into the framework of a graphic novel.

Since that has probably left you more confused than anything else, allow me to share with you the recently posted trailer. Have a look, it'll clue you in quite quickly on just what Foreclosed is trying to achieve:

Mortal Shell screenshot of Dark Souls like atmosphere

[Update #2]: Mortal Shell will be making its way to PC and consoles this August 18th.

[Update]: Mortal Shell has now opened up its free beta for everyone to enjoy.

If you're a fan of the Souls-like genre and you're looking for a new contender to sink your teeth into, you might want to keep an eye on the newly announced Mortal Shell. Much like Dark Souls from which it draws a great deal of inspiration, Mortal Shell is all about exploring a broken-down world in search of some sort of salvation, all the while facing down one challenging foe after another in highly precise duels.

As for the Mortal Shell name, it is quite literal in this case. According to the brief description, you'll be able to awaken the long-lost remains of legendary warriors, and through their skill further enhance your combat options. Whether these possessions will be permanent or something you change on a frequent basis, I'm afraid I have no answer to give you, but it's certainly an interesting concept to puzzle over!

Deep Rock Galactic screenshot of a fourth relic skin

[Update]: Deep Rock Galactic update has added two new mission types and a bunch of cosmetics.

It has only been a short while since Deep Rock Galactic released from Steam Early Access, and already Ghost Ship Games have launched a fairly sizable update. This one brings with it a variety of bug and crash fixes, three new secondary objectives, as well as a whole bunch of new layouts and props to gawk at as you explore the numerous biomes.

Perhaps most importantly, there's now a brand new boss-like enemy to encounter while wondering through the cave systems - the Korlok Tyrant-Weed. It's a particularly nasty one as it endlessly spawns aggressive sproutlings that will eventually overwhelm even the best of teams, so do make sure to tear out its 'heart' before it manages to return the favor.

Paper Beast official artwork and logo

If you're in the mood for a charming and often quite strange VR exploration game, you might be interesting to hear that Eric Chahi's (of Another World fame) Paper Beast is soon coming to PC. After spending a fair bit of time exclusive for PS VR, Paper Beast will be launching onto Steam VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this summer.

When it comes to the actual gameplay, Paper Beast consists of two distinct game modes: the adventure and exploration focused one, and the sandbox. The adventure mode will have you meet and protect a variety of paper-based creatures by reshaping the terrain, diverting rivers, as well as solving some light puzzles. In the sandbox mode, as you might imagine from the name alone, you'll have a rather sizable playground to mess around with to your heart's content.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3 official artwork and logo

[Update #2]: Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3 has launched from Early Access alongside some excellent reviews.

[Update]: It's official, Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3 is leaving Early Access on October 14, 2020.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3 only landed onto Steam Early Access in late January, and already the developers are getting ready for its full release. According to the latest announcement, you can expect Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3 to leave Early Access and properly launch this fall for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.

Version 1.0 will contain a lengthy singleplayer campaign that will have you travel across a futuristic and oddly war-torn America to participate in a food truck championship with your trusty robot companions. Along the way you'll be able to expand your food truck with new modules, experiment with your food catalog, and if you're so inclined, invite a friend to help make a gigantic mess in local co-op.

Satisfactory screenshot of two players overlooking their factory

[Update #2]: Satisfactory Update 6 has reworked the Spire Coast, added ammo types and even an explosive boom box.

[Update]: Satisfactory's chunky Update 5 has arrived with major vehicle and build system improvements.

After spending a fair bit of time being exclusive to the Epic Games Store, the first-person factory building game Satisfactory has now also made its way to Steam Early Access. As you might imagine from that last part alone, Satisfactory is currently still unfinished and somewhat unpolished, though most of the core factory-building gameplay seems to be present and accounted for.

What is currently missing is the story mode that's supposed to give everything a bit of context, as well as a proper end-game challenge to really sink your teeth into. So if you do decide to explore Satisfactory's rather alien world, make sure you're doing so because you love a good sandbox to play around with - at this point that's pretty much exactly what you're getting.

Sea of Craft screenshot of two ships duking it out

Much like Besiege from which it draws a great deal of inspiration, the rather poorly named Sea of Craft is a physics-based sandbox game. It's all about creating an assortment of outrageous ships, outfitting them with more weapons and armor than the poor vessels can possibly support, and then watching as your mechanical abomination self-destructs in a hilarious fashion!

What exactly this looks like in gameplay terms, that you'll find out through the recently posted trailer. Have a gander, it's a pretty fun-looking one:
