[Update]: They Are Billions has now fully released from Steam Early Access alongside a new singleplayer campaign.

They Are Billions is a strategy game set in a Steampunk version of the distant future where a zombie apocalypse has wiped out almost all of mankind. This is where you as the player come in to the picture. You'll have to rally the survivors, build a self-sufficient colony, and somehow survive a constant onslaught of hordes upon hordes of zombies that would love nothing more than to turn your settlers into more of them.

While the concept alone seems to be about as generic as it gets, I would refrain from any judgement before checking out the recently posted trailer. It does a really good job of explaining what sets They Are Billions apart from the... well, billions of other zombie games. Have a look:

From what is known so far They Are Billions will feature two main game modes: Campaign and Survival. In the campaign you will need to help the surviving humans reconquer their lost country by building colonies, going on rescue missions, researching technologies, and so forth. You'll be able to do each of these missions in a variety of ways, weather this be through combat, advanced technology, or any tactical advantage you might encounter somewhere on the map itself.

The survival mode is pretty self-explanatory. You'll be dropped into a randomly generated world with its own events, weather, and geography, and you'll be expected to create a colony that can survive for 100 days against the undead swarms. Much like The Binding of Isaac or similar games They Are Billions will have weekly challenges where everyone must play on the same random map, with the best players then being added to the official leaderboard. Its a simple little feature, but it has been proven to work time and time again.

They Are Billions will be coming this Fall for the PC, though no release date has been revealed just yet. To learn more you should head over to either Steam or the official website. And as a final note, here's a couple of zombie-slaughtering images:
