[Update]: After exactly a year in Early Access, Sons Of The Forest's Version 1.0 has now been unleashed!

In a bit of an unexpected, though certainly not unwelcome twist, the Survival-focused horror game Sons of the Forest has suddenly chosen to release as an Early Access title instead of going with a 'proper' launch. A good thing too, because even though Sons of the Forest is a nice bit of fun, it's very obviously still unfinished and needs some more time in the oven before it can truly surpass its predecessor.

As of right now the plan is for Sons of the Forest to spend about six to eight months in Early Access, during which the Endnight team will be working on adding everything from new items to gameplay mechanics and lore. It's also important to mention that the price won't be changing between now and the eventual launch, so don't feel pressured to get in on the action early if you're not in the mood for essentially beta testing the game and helping the developers out.

Personally, unless I hear an endless stream of raving reviews from the Early Access version, I'm going to follow the exact same approach I had with the original The Forest. I'll wait until a few weeks after Sons of the Forest officially launches and then finally dive in for real. This should not only give me all of the content and an actual ending to the story, but also as bug-free of an experience as I can get before a major update or expansion at some point in the distant future. As such, I would definitely recommend doing the same.

But enough babbling for me! Instead, allow me to share with you the freshly posted trailer that should give you a pretty good idea of what Sons of the Forest looks like, as well as what it plays like. Have a gander:

Once the Endnight team launches a major update, or Sons of the Forest gets a new release date, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read more about Sons of the Forest and its current state over at Steam. Enjoy!
