Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Wildlands will be having a free-to-play weekend from this Thursday to Sunday

[Update]: Ubisoft has now announced a brand new sequel to Wildlands - Ghost Recon Breakpoint!
Ghost Recon Wildlands is a tactical open-world shooter designed around squad-based play. You can either mess around with a couple of AI companions, or team up with your friends in order to see just what kind of chaos you can wreak upon your unsuspecting victims. It might not the best tactical shooter I've ever played, but I'd say its well worth giving it try, especially if you have a couple of friends to accompany you.
With that in mind, I am very glad to announce that Ghost Recon Wildlands will be having a free-to-play weekend from this Thursday until Sunday. The free weekend will give you access to the full game, as well as the newly introduced PvP mode called Ghost War, so it should give you a pretty damn good idea of whether this is the type of shooter you'd love to sink a lot of time into. I'm not sure if the free weekend will be available on Steam, so if you're interested make sure to head over to the Ubisoft website as the pre-load is already up and running.
Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Review - A promising leap towards a bright future
- By Ash
- in Reviews
Guild Wars 2's Path of Fire expansion does not represent a massive evolution, but rather a promising leap forward. The story is vastly more interesting and engaging to follow than the one in Heart of Thorns, the class diversity has been greatly enhanced with the new Elite Specializations, and the Crystal Desert is an absolute blast to explore due to the addition of some of the best mounts I've ever seen in an MMO. Its still the same Guild Wars 2 I fell in love with years ago, but with enough new bells and whistles to hopefully keep it entertaining for many more to come.
So if you're interested in seeing what Path of Fire is all about, as well as how the mount system has been integrated into Guild Wars 2's open world, allow me to share with you my thoughts after spending a couple of weeks roaming thorough the Crystal Desert.
Trick Art Dungeon is a newly announced and reality-bending puzzle-adventure game

Trick Art Dungeon is a newly announced puzzle-adventure that likes to play around with perspective and expectations. What this means in gameplay terms is that you can complete a painting of a shark in order for it to spring to life and dig straight through the floor, use a reflection in order to walk across pathways that simply don't exist, change your perspective in order to create a gap where there once was a solid wall, and the list of similarly bizarre examples goes on for a while.
There is simply no way for me to explain this through words alone, at least not in a way that leaves you less confused than before, so allow me to instead share with you the recently posted announcement trailer. Its not very long, but it will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from Trick Art Dungeon. Have a look:
CS:GO will soon be getting a remastered version of its most iconic map - Dust2
- By Ash
- in News
Back in February Valve removed Dust2 from active duty and placed it into the reserved group. While this little change didn't affect public play as Dust2 still remains the most popular map around, it did mean that official tournaments and leagues could not use it. As you might expect, this was done in order to rework and rebalance the map, though what exactly is being changed I'm afraid nobody outside of Valve really knows.
So if you're as curious as I am, you'll be glad to hear that the Dust2 rework will be available for testing in the very near future! I would love to offer you more than that, but I'm afraid this is pretty much the entirety of the announcement given that it was deliver via Twitter.
Heroes of the Storm devs have released a spotlight video for the upcoming ranged assassin Junkrat

We've known about Junkrat's arrival to Heroes of the Storm for nearly a month now, but despite the developers releasing a rather awesome cinematic trailer we pretty much had zero information on his abilities and playstyle, though that last part wasn't exactly hard to guess. As such, I am glad to say that Blizzard has now finally released an official hero spotlight video for Junkrat!
So if you're interested in seeing what sort of abilities Junkrat has at his disposal, as well as what exactly changed during his transfer to Heroes of the Storm, you'll find the recent developer video right below. Have a look, its quite an interesting one:
Star Wars Battlefront 2's Open Beta has been extended for two more days

Star Wars Battlefront 2's Open Beta was supposed to end on October 9th, but in a bit of a surprise announcement EA has just extended it by two more days. So if you haven't managed to give it a try just yet, make sure to head over to Origin as soon as possible since the Open Beta will only last until Wednesday, October 11th.
In terms of content you can expect to see a small slice of pretty much everything Star Wars Battlefront 2 has to offer, though without any of the singleplayer campaign missions. The definite highlight is the massive battle on Naboo, a battle you might remember from the E3 reveal ceremony, but there are also a couple of side modes such as Starfighter Assault that lets you fly around in space with some of the most iconic Star Wars ships, as well as a small-scale skirmish on Takodana.
The puzzle-exploration game Q.U.B.E. 2 now has lengthy gameplay preview video
- By Ash
- in News
Q.U.B.E. 2 is an upcoming puzzle-exploration game that will have you step into the shoes of Amelia Cross, a British archaeologist that finds herself trapped on a strange alien planet. As you might imagine, in order to escape you'll have to face the increasingly tricky challenges and puzzles found within the Q.U.B.E., as well as learn what in the world is even happening.
Since trying to explain a puzzle game through words alone is not exactly an easy feat, I am very glad to say that the developers have now posted a lengthy gameplay preview video. Its still early gameplay footage so you might encounter some minor problems with the visuals and overall polish, but it should still offer a good look at just what Q.U.B.E. 2 is all about. Have a gander:
