If you would like to extend your Assassin's Creed Origins playthrough with a variety of new action-packed missions, you might be interested to hear that The Curse of the Pharahos DLC is set to arrive later today. It'll bring with it a brand new zone to explore, a variety of quests filled with colorful characters, and perhaps most importantly, some rather interesting enemies to fight against. As you can probably guess from the title alone, I'm talking about mummies, giant scorpions and extremely angry pharaohs that are capable of wielding powerful magic against you!
You can get a good peek at what all of this looks like in-game through the recently posted launch trailer. If you're only in it for the action, however, just skip to the later half of the video as that's where all of the truly bizarre stuff starts popping up. Have a gander:
Dota 2's newly released Dota Plus subscription service offers a comprehensive in-game assistant
- By Ash
- in News
Instead of releasing another Battle Pass as was expected, Valve has now unveiled a brand new subscription service - Dota Plus. For $4 the Dota Plus service offers the ability to collect cosmetics by either leveling your heroes, completing challenges, or purchasing them with Shards you earn after each match. These cosmetic items will consist of equipment sets, hero-specific chat wheel emotes, taunts, as well as a variety of other exclusive effects.
More interestingly, however, the Dota Plus subscription will also bring with it a rather comprehensive in-game assistant that will track your progress in real-time and offer suggestions based on your exact scenario. In other words, it will give you item suggestions based on which lane you're playing and who you're fighting against, ability suggestions designed to best counter your opponent, and even hero suggestions in order to help round out your team in the best way possible.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 has managed to sell a truly impressive 500,000 copies in less than a week

The co-op focused Warhammer: Vermintide 2 arrived onto Steam this March 8th, and already it has become a massive success. Not only has it blitzed past the original's record for concurrent players within a single day, but it has also managed to sell more than 500,000 copies on PC alone in less than a week! For an indie game that really didn't do much marketing, that is about as impressive as it gets.
“We are proud and happy that gamers worldwide have taken Warhammer: Vermintide 2 to their hearts.” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. “500,000 games sold was a milestone that we had, but not less than a week after release.”
Chances are that Vermintide 2 will achieve even bigger milestones in the future as it is set to arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point later this year. I certainly hope so because Vermintide 2, despite all of its flaws, is a highly enjoyable game with a highly affordable €28 price tag.
Hearthstone's The Witchwood expansion will bring 135 new cards as well as 3 new and exciting effects

After being teased during the recent reveal of the Year of the Raven, Blizzard has now finally announced Hearthstone's next expansion - The Witchwood. You can expect to see 135 new cards, some of which will have new and powerful effects that trigger at the very start of the game, as well as a Monster Hunt game mode as an addition/replacement for Kobolds & Catacombs' Dungeon Run.
You can get a sneak peak at some of the new cards and mechanics through the recently posted announcement video. It's fairly lengthy so I can understand if you don't feel like watching the whole thing, but I would highly suggest you at least check out the very beginning as that is where the cinematic trailer resides. Here's the video, as well as a few of the more interesting new cards:
The highly immersive zombie survival game State of Decay 2 is coming to PC and Xbox One this May
- By Ash
- in News
Before you start screaming and running away because I'm going to talk about yet another open-world zombie survival game, it is worth mentioning that State of Decay 2 does things quite differently from the rest of the genre. Instead of playing as one overpowered character that only needs to worry about occasionally snacking on sandwiches that magically appear in cupboards, in State of Decay 2 you will essentially be playing as an entire community, with all of the benefits and vulnerabilities that come with such an arrangement.
Each of your survivors is their own person with a mixture of skills, attitudes and interests that determine what they can do, what they want to do, and how far they're willing to go in order to do it. More importantly, each of the survivors can get hurt and tired, so in order to truly prosper you will need to find a way to make the most out of what you have, even if that sometimes means taking massive risks and potentially losing some of your people. It is a concept that worked great in the original State of Decay, so here's to hoping it'll work even better in the sequel!

[Update]: It took a while, but Firmament will be launching in the first quarter of 2023!
After many, many years of waiting the world finally saw Cyan bring out a brand new spiritual successor to Myst back in 2016 - the highly atmospheric and utterly bizarre Obduction. Thankfully, fans of puzzle-adventures will not have to wait as long for the next one as Cyan has just recently unveiled their newest steampunk adventure Firmament!
There are currently very few details available about Firmament, but on the positive side there is a fairly lengthy teaser trailer, so if you're interested in what exactly Cyan cooked up this time around you'll find the video right below. Have a look, it's quite an intriguing one:
Obsidian's story-heavy RPG Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is coming in a mere few weeks
- By Ash
- in News
After the extremely well-received Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian returned to crowdfunding in late January of last year in order to secure funds for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. The fans loved the idea so much they not only contributed enough to reach the initial goal, but kept going until the Fig campaign ended with Pillars of Eternity 2 securing $4,407,598 in funding - 400% of the original target!
A fair bit of time has passed since then, and I am now delighted to say that Pillars of Eternity 2 is just about ready to launch! To be more specific, it will be coming to Windows, Linux and Mac on April 3rd. As for the console versions, not details have been given just yet, but you can expect Pillars of Eternity 2 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch at some point towards the end of 2018.
