The remastered version of Red Faction Guerrilla has recently landed on PC and consoles

After being announced only back in April, the remastered version of the destruction-focused shooter Red Faction Guerrilla has now arrived for both PC and consoles. As you might expect from any modern remaster, the new version brings with it heavily reworked graphics, improved shadow rendering and lighting, new shaders and postprocessing options, and naturally, support for all sorts of wide-screen resolutions.
If you're just wondering what all of this looks like in-game, wonder no more as the devs have released a short but explosive gameplay trailer. Have a gander, it should give you a decent idea of what to expect:
The freshly reworked Symmetra is now fully available in Overwatch's Competitive Play

Two weeks ago Overwatch received a rather significant update, one that has so far been an enormous boon to the competitive scene. Horizon Lunar Colony got reworked and is now a lot less attacker-friendly, there is a new Looking For Group system to help you find friends to play with, the Endorsement system has made people a lot friendlier and more talkative, and the long-forgotten Symmetra has received a gigantic rework!
In order to give players enough time to get used to her, as well as sniff out any potentially game-breaking issues, the newly reworked Symmetra did not immediately appear in the Competitive Play mode. Thankfully, Blizzard has opted to not repeat the same mistake they've done with Brigitte and hold Symmetra at bay for months on end, and so they've now fully unleashed her into Competitive Play - merely two weeks after her rework landed on the live servers!
Pillars of Eternity 2's recent update has fixed a whole bunch of quest issues and annoying bugs

While I encountered very few bugs while I was working on my Pillars of Eternity 2 review, during my second and more recent playthrough I ended up running into a variety of issues. Most notably, trying to side-step some of the key story points and simply going to the end of the quest would occasionally result in some highly inaccurate dialogue and rather strange NPC behavior.
With that in mind, I am very glad to say that the most recent update has corrected many of these issues. There are far too many of them to simply list out, so if you're interested in all of the details you should head over here. The quest changes do contain quite a few spoilers, for obvious reasons, so I would recommend avoiding that section until you're done with your playthrough.
Vermintide 2's Sonnstill celebration event has arrived alongside a double EXP weekend and some important bug fixes

If you've only recently bought Vermintide 2, or if you still have a couple of characters you haven't leveled up to 30 just yet, you might be interested to hear that the Sonnstill celebration event has now begun. Besides giving you a chance to acquire a couple of in-game loot boxes (the non-paid kind) and a cosmetic portrait, the update has also introduced a double EXP weekend, perfect for getting your characters leveled up and ready for Legend difficulty.
While the list of changes isn't exactly massive, there are two important ones I feel the need to highlight. The first one is that the Charm trait "Concoction" now actually gives all buffs to your allies once you drink a potion, rather than only some of them. Given that the previously missing effect is the one that boosts your damage, I think this buff should go a long towards making Concoction a much more interesting choice.
Despite rumors to the contrary, Dead Island 2 is still in development

[Update #2]: Nearly a decade after its original announcement, Dead Island 2 has now finally been unleashed.
[Update]: Dead Island 2 is not only alive, but it's also finally launching on February 3rd, 2023 for PC and consoles!
With all of the recent news about Dying Light 2, the previously announced yet still mysterious Dead Island 2 came into the public's eye once more. Dead Island 2 was originally announced in 2014 and was supposed to release in 2015, though unfortunately it ran into some development issues and was postponed time and time again.
We've heard very little about Dead Island 2 since then, which as you might imagine led to a lot of people simply writing the entire game off, but according to one of the recent tweets from the official Dead Island Twitter account the game is still in development! The devs haven't shared any additional information, but according to the tweet they're keeping Dead Island 2 under wraps until it's ready for the spotlight. Probably a very good idea given that it's bound to be heavily scrutinized due its troubled development and the lengthy wait.
Warcraft 3 has once again received a massive batch of balance changes and map tweaks

While I'm still uncertain why they're doing so, I am very glad to say that Blizzard has begun taking Warcraft 3 quite seriously. In the previous Update 1.29 they introduced support for modern resolutions, the ability to play custom games with up to 24 players, better matchmaking, an improved World Editor, and naturally, a whole bunch of balance changes.
As is tradition for any multiplayer game, the latest round of balance changes quickly introduced new problems and revealed long-forgotten flaws. In order to correct these issues, as well as bring all four races as close together as possible in regards to balance, Blizzard has now released Update 1.30 onto the PTR (Public Test Realm).
Steam has shared the list of top selling games of 2018, a lot of which are indie games

[Update]: Steam has now released the list of best selling and most popular games of 2019, and I'm very happy to say that things are looking even better than in 2018!
The massive Steam Summer Sale has now come and gone, and as is somewhat of a tradition, Valve has released the list of the best selling games of 2018. While I'm sure it won't come as much of a surprise to hear that AAA juggernauts like Far Cry 5 and GTA 5 are near the top of the list, it might come as a bit of a shock to hear that quite a few of the top selling games are from indie studios of various sizes!
Some of them might not be 'true' indie games, but I'm still quite glad to announce that Vermintide 2, Rocket League, Warframe and Kingdom Come: Deliverance have secured themselves a spot among the highly exclusive "Platinum" bracket. The exact numbers haven't been released, but I can give you a bit of context through Vermintide 2.
During its first two weeks it managed to sell around a million copies and secured more revenue than the original Vermintide in its entire lifespan. And that is for a game with absolutely no microtransactions and DLC, so I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out just how successful Vermintide 2 (and the rest of the Platinum group) have ended up being!
