Yooka-Laylee's rather colorful official artwork

If this is your first time encountering Yooka-Laylee, it is an upcoming 3D platformer (or more accurately a collectathon) greatly inspired by quite possibly the best game in the entire genre - Banjo-Kazooie. And speaking of upcoming, Playtonic has just now announced that Yooka-Laylee will be arriving on April 11 for both the PC and consoles!

In order to celebrate this announcement they've also released a brand new trailer showcasing the "Capital Cashino" zone, and if you ever had any doubts that this is basically Banjo-Threeie, prepare to have them dispelled. Anyway, here's the video:

If you would like to give Yooka-Laylee a try before its actual release, you can receive instant access to the Yooka-Laylee Toybox demo by pre-ordering on either Steam, GOG, or your platform of choice at a $40/€37 price tag. Do bear in mind, however, the Toybox isn't a traditional demo, but rather a "self-contained, spoiler free sandbox" designed to offer you a taste of what Yooka-Laylee will bring with it on launch. In other words, don't expect the same level of polish as you've seen in the trailers.

And if you need a bit more information you can either check out the official website to learn more, or head over here for one of the most recent gameplay videos. As a final note, here's a couple of rather colorful images, as well as a guest character you might just recognize:

Shovel Knight is apparently a part of Yooka-Laylee
