Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Martyr is an upcoming Warhammer 40k themed ARPG

2016 seems to be well on its way to be the best year for Warhammer 40k fans. We've had Eternal Crusade appear in Early Access and cower all of our third person shooter needs, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada has the RTS sector on lockdown, Space Hulk Deathwing is looking to be an excellent first person shooter, Dawn of War 3 is likely to be announced tomorrow, and to top it all off, we also have Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Martyr to fill out that much needed action RPG slot.

The video/trailer on display today showcases all of the ways you can mess around with the environment, by which I naturally mean blast it away in to teeny-weeny bits and pieces, so that the enemy can finally stop cowering behind it and face you like... uhh... something resembling a man. Have a look:

While the video has most definitely piqued my interest in Inquisitor - Martyr, there is one niggling little issue that keeps bothering me every time I watch it - the Bolter doesn't sound right. According to the lore, "the divine bringer of death" is packed with explosive rounds that are capable of tearing through both flesh and cower in equal measure, something that you would expect to make quite the BOOM whenever it hits the enemy. Unfortunately, even though the Bolter used in the video manages to look the part, when it comes to the sound design its meeker than the rifles lower-ranked guardsmen would be issued with.

Ridiculous nitpicking aside, Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor - Martyr is an action RPG made by NeocoreGames, the talented team that also created the Van Helsing ARPG series which I've found myself greatly enjoying, annoying issues with the third one aside. You can expect to blaze through countless heretical hordes, gather new weapons and equipment, level up your Inquisitor, and most importantly, bring down the Emperor's hammer upon anyone that dares shun away from his light.

There is currently no release date set, but given that this is the first in a series of upcoming trailers I am going to hazard a guess and say its going to be in 2016. If you're looking for more information on Inquisitor - Martyr I'd recommend you head over to the official devblog, you'll find a whole bunch of articles on numerous topics there.
