Total War: Warhammer's second faction DLC, Realm of the Wood Elves, is now live and available. As you would expect given its pedigree, Realm of the Wood Elves brings with it a brand new faction with its own unique units and Legendary Lords, mechanics, lores of magic, quests, and pretty much everything you've come to expect from a Total War: Warhammer race.
However, while the Wood Elves are a fairly exciting addition to Total War: Warhammer, it is also worth mentioning that this DLC has brought it a massive (and free) content patch. There's two new Heroes for the Empire, two new lores of magic, and a whole ton of new maps to wage war on! So if you're interested in a bit of a preview for all these new maps and magic types, here's the recently posted developer video going over just that:
The maps will be automatically added to your Total War: Warhammer as soon as you update it, but you will need to "purchase" the two new heroes in order to enable them. Simply head on over to their Steam pages (here for the Jade Wizard, and here for the Grey Wizard), and click that shiny "Free Download" button. It will start up a brief download after which the two wizards will become available and you'll be able to toy around with the two new lores of magic.
And finally, even if you don't purchase the Realm of the Wood Elves DLC you'll still be able to trade (good luck with that one) and wage war against the Wood Elves on the campaign map. Its a part of a DLC so I guess it doesn't technically count as a free update, but hey, more enemies to fight against is always a good thing in my book!
