Total War: Warhammer 2 screenshot of Malekith the Witch King in battle

Last week creative Assembly released the very first image of the new campaign map and all of the factions you can find on it. A few days ago they revealed a brief and rather cinematic overview of what exactly the map looks like in-game, and as you can probably guess from the title, today they have gone a step further and showcased some actual gameplay on the new Vortex campaign map.

The video below is mostly focused on Malketih the Witch King and his attempts at interrupting an important High Elf ritual, which mostly involves sending a rather large amount of half-naked elves and monsters to politely ask them to stop. There is sadly no combat in this video, but it should give you a pretty damn good idea of the Dark Elf campaign mechanics and general gameplay style. Have a look:

All I can say after this is that even the newly added Norsca faction feels quite plain in comparison. Not only do the Dark Elves have to contend with a wide variety of enemies from across the world, but they also have a whole bunch of unique campaign and battle mechanics, special effects and events, as well as quest objectives that appear to be more than "go raid this region". If the same sort of thing applies to the other races, and I'm pretty sure it does from the footage I've seen so far, Total War: Warhammer 2 is going to easily take the place as my favorite Total War game out there.

As for the release date, you can expect Total War: Warhammer 2 to arrive on September 28th, 2017. If you would like to learn a little bit more, or just check out some of the other gameplay videos released so far, I would suggest heading over to the official website. And finally, if you've managed to miss the relatively recent Skaven announcement I would highly recommend you check out the two rather stylish reveal trailers over here. Enjoy!
