Torment: Tides of Numenera screenshot of the Sorrow

Torment: Tides of Numenera is an isometric, story focused RPG heavily inspired by one of the best games in the genre - Planescape: Torment. What this means in gameplay terms is that Tides of Numenera has a vast and interesting world full of compelling characters, a dialogue system that allows you to roleplay as nearly anything you wish, and quest system design in such a way that you can complete the entire game without ever engaging in a single bit of combat.

As for the story itself, here's a brief trailer that should get you up to speed on pretty much everything you need to know. And don't worry about spoilers, all of this is revealed to you within the first 15 minutes. Have a look:

If this sounds like something you might enjoy you can learn more about Tides of Numenera on either Steam or the official website. My review will be up tomorrow, but if you're interested in my opinion here's the long and short of it: Torment: Tides of Numenera is a truly excellent story focused RPG with plenty of interesting characters to meet and choices to make, but pretty much every other aspect of it is underdeveloped, especially combat. So if you're looking for a compelling story that will keep you occupied for hours on end, then chances are you'll love Tides of Numenera. On the other hand, if you're looking for a CRPG experience similar to Pillars of Eternity or Tyranny I'm afraid you're only going to find disappointment here.
