Durthu the Legendary Lord from Total War Warhammer's Realm of the Wood Elves DLC

Its been quite a few months since Total War: Warhammer first arrived, and much to my pleasure Creative Assembly is showing no signs of stopping just yet. The King and the Warlord DLC arrived only last month, and already there is an announcement for the next piece of content.

As you can probably guess from the title alone, the Realm of the Wood Elves DLC will bring with it the Wood Elves faction along with new Legendary Lords, exclusive units, a mini story campaign, and a variety of other features. But rather than simply ramble on, allow me to show you the announcement trailer as it features pretty much all of the above. Have a look:

To expand upon what I said previously, the Realm of the Wood Elves DLC will bring with it the Wood Elves as a brand new faction with a race-specific currency (Amber), and a new wonder-based campaign victory condition. There will be two new Legendary Lords to toy around with, Orion for those wanting a powerful melee-orientated damage dealer, and Durthu for those more keen towards spellcasting and summoning the forces of nature for help. Along with the new Legendary Lords there are two new Lord types with "deep-specialization skill trees", as well as three new Hero types with equally deep specialization options. And naturally, there will be a whole bunch of new unique monsters, magic, Elven buildings, and units to spice things up.

Since trying to explain all of this in brief is pretty damn impossible, I would suggest you head over to Steam if you're interested in all of the fine details. Creative Assembly has done a rather impressive job of listing out all of the features, no matter how small, as well as the accompanying lore.

On a slightly unrelated note, I'm sure some among you are wondering why I'm so excited for a €16 DLC that pretty much only adds a new faction. The reason is rather practical - even though I won't get to play as the Wood Elves once the DLC releases on December 8 given that I don't currently intend to buy it, I'll be able to play against them for free! In other words, this paid DLC is essentially introducing new and exciting content into the base version of Total War: Warhammer, and having more enemies to trade or fight with is always an excellent thing... especially if you enjoy playing as the Orks!
