Figuring out when Tales of Berseria will actually release on the PC has been a bit of a roller coaster, to say the least. The initial announcement pinned the release date for January 24, the same day it releases on the PlayStation 4, but that quickly got corrected to January 24 in the US, and January 27 in Europe. In most cases this would be the end of the story, but not for Tales of Berseria!
According to the recently updated Steam page, Tales of Berseria will be arriving to the PC on January 26, officially making me very, very confused. Furthermore, given that it appears as January 26 on my European Steam account it seems that the silly regional delay has been removed in favor of a unified release. If that actually ends up being the case I would consider it an extremely positive thing, because having delayed digital releases in this day and age is downright ridiculous.
On a slightly different note, if you've managed to survive through all of that rambling without actually knowing what Tales of Berseria is all about, here's the announcement trailer to hopefully shed a bit of light. There are a couple of other trailers out there, but most of them contain story spoilers, so I would recommend not reaching out for them unless you don't mind such things. Anyway, here's the video:
And finally I have some extremely good news - there will be a PC demo available on January 10, six days ahead of release! Even seeing a demo for 'big games' these days is akin to seeing a unicorn in the wild, so to see Tales of Berseria release one an entire week ahead of launch fills me with a great deal of hope.
If they're willing to give people this much time to toy around with it, odds are high there's going to be enough depth to Berseria to make it worth the full purchase. Whether this line of thinking is going to hold water or not, I can't say for certain, but we won't have to wait for too long in order to find out as the demo is coming in a mere month.
