Styx: Shards of Darkness official screenshot of a rather large level

Styx: Shards of Darkness, a stealth adventure inspired by the Thief series, has now made its way to PC and consoles. As you might expect given its inspiration Shards of Darkness features plenty of open-ended levels crawling with guards and traps, a variety of weapons and tools to either dispatch or bypass them, as well as stealth mechanics that reward patience over all-out aggression.

For those of you wishing to learn more, or just check out the visuals, you'll find the recently posted launch trailer down below. It doesn't feature much in terms of gameplay, but it should give you a brief glimpse at the story and Styx's personality. Have a look:

If you've played the original Styx you probably know what to expect from Shards of Darkness: slightly clunky controls, a loud-mouthed and occasionally annoying protagonist, and some pretty damn good stealth gameplay. I've only played it for an hour so far, so take the following with a few grains of salt, but I'd say its well worth a playthrough for any fans of stealth games, especially if you enjoy the oldschool ones like Thief. Additionally, if you are a veteran of the genre make sure to increase the difficulty as I found the normal one to be a bit too easy.

To learn more, or just check out a couple of gameplay videos, I would recommend heading over to either the official website or Steam. Have fun sneaking around!
