Ibuki from Street Fighter V

A couple of months have passed since its original release, but Street Fighter V's story mode has finally appeared as a part of the free "A Shadow Falls" DLC. Along with the story mode comes Update 1.04 with two new characters, a couple of new stages and costumes, matchmaking improvements, and the introduction of the in-game Currency Shop.

While the story premise seems to be about as ridiculous as it gets, it does allow you to watch your favorite characters beat the ever-living daylight out of each other in various in-game cinematics, and for a fighting game I'd say that is more than enough. Here's the trailer to give you an idea of just how cheesy all of it is:

The bizarre thing with the story mode, or rather the free  "A Shadow Falls" DLC, is that it isn't automatically installed alongside patch 1.04, you have to do it manually from Steam! If you're under the tyrannical rule of data caps, do bear in mind that the story mode is quite large in size as its well over 10GB.

If you're interested in the two new characters, Barlog and Ibuki, you can read all about them and their playstyles over at the announcement post.

As far as the Currency Shop is concerned, here's what you will be expected to pay for the various cosmetics and characters, either through in-game currency or actual cash:

New Characters - (FM)100,000 | $5.99/€5.99/£4.99

New Stages - (FM)70,000 | $3.99/€3.99/£3.29

Alternate Stages - (FM)40,000 | $1.99/€1.99/£1.69

Story Costumes - (FM)40,000 | $1.99/€1.99/£1.69

Premium Costumes (No Fight Money option) - $3.99/€3.99/£ 3.29
