After quite a few mediocre PC ports of otherwise good games, I must say I'm quite happy to see not one, but two AAA games delayed due to concerns about quality! Ubisoft has recently delayed Watch Dogs 2 in order to make the PC version as good as it can possibly be, and apparently CI Games are doing the same with Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, though for all platforms.

As you can probably guess from the title alone, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 will now be launching on April 4, 2017 for the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. If you're wondering why exactly this is happening, here's a brief quote from Marek Tymiński (CEO of CI Games) explaining the team's need for an extra few months:

"We’re making an ambitious game and unfortunately still need an extra few months to make sure it will stand up to the expectations of the fans. Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimizing the game.

This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished. I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series.”

While it certainly sucks having to wait even longer for a game you might be excited about, these sort of delays are almost always a positive thing in my book. It might not sound like much, but a couple of months purely dedicated to polish, bug-fixing, and balance can make an already good game transform into something truly amazing. So here's to hoping the same happens with Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3!

And finally, for those of you that know very little about Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, here's a developer-guided playthrough from this year's Gamescom. Before you dive in, do bear in mind that the gameplay on display is from an early alpha build, so don't be surprised if you see the occasional bug or glitchy texture. That said, here's the video:
