Wooden demon world from Allison Road

After Konami made the boneheaded decision to cancel PT, or rather an actually terrifying sequel to Silent Hill, it left many people with an incurable itch for all things horror. This is where Allison Road came into play, and by offering a deeply disturbing survival horror experience it had managed to garner a rather impressive following, especially considering how early in development it was.

Unfortunately, ever since the canceled Kickstarter and subsequent deal with Team17 the news about Allison Road slowed down to a trickle, and eventually faded out completely. While we don't know what exactly happened, the sad truth is that the lack of news is due to Allison Road being canceled, as noted by the official Twitter account:

"Hi all. Sadly Allison Road had to be cancelled. Statement to come in the next few days. Thx for all your support and very sad it came 2 this."

This truly is a shame because Allison Road seemed to hit all of the check-marks of good horror design, at least as far as the visuals go. Just look at that damnable wooden-wolf-demon-thing and say you would be comfortable bumping into that while on your stroll!

While we wait for the official statement to arrive here's the first (and I guess last) piece of gameplay footage from Allison Road:
