During a recent Gamescom presentation Square Enix and PlatinumGames brought out a rather surprising announcement - the previously PS4 exclusive NeiR: Automata will be making its way to Steam and PC as well!

If you have no idea what NieR: Automata is all about and why this such an exciting piece of news, here's the relatively recent E3 gameplay video showcasing one of the boss fights and some truly amazing music:

While I would love to tell you more about the combat or the various characters you can play with it, the details are unfortunately in short supply, so you're just going to have to settle with the plot synopsis for now:

"The distant future…

Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing a new type of threat: weapons known as “machine lifeforms.” In the face of this insurmountable threat, mankind is driven from Earth and takes refuge on the Moon.

The Council of Humanity organizes a resistance of android soldiers in an effort to take back their planet. To break the deadlock, the Resistance deploys a new unit of android infantry: YoRHa .

In the forsaken wasteland below, the war between the machines and the androids rages on. A war that is soon to unveil the long-forgotten truth of this world..."
